Does anyone know when the NEC e616 will be available on pay as you go or even where I could buy it simfree? From what I've read I think that its a really great phone!!!!!!
I had this phone for 1 week now .. And all I ever do, is recharging the damm thing. Nice to have 2 rechargers, USB and a Car Charger .. I sure use them all the time.
The phone itself has some nice features. I coded music videos for it, and it looks nice. Allso the MP3 is playing fine.
One BIG mistake from 3/NEC .. You can NOT upload JAVA games on it. You can only download them from "3".
The camera is Ok. Had the Panasonic GD87 before, and the NEC is not that good, but have the nice Spot-Light to switch on.
Other thing that sucks, it can only Read MAX . 128Mb SD Duo stick.
The software in it, has some big bugs. The Phone is about 2 min, to find GSM net, if there is no 3G net.
The phone "crashes" if it has to switch between 3G to GSM and vice versa. It just shuts down !!!
One of my friends NEC e616, is allso shutting down, if he sends a SMS to a phone outside UMTS network, just after he turned on his phone.
In all.. the phone is ok, if they can fix all the bugs. Hoping for a soon firmware update or someting...
phone desperately need a firmware upgrade.
NEC says it has mp3 ringtone. which noone can workout how to do.
good one guys.
Nice looking phone if a bit big but the software on it is dodgy! have had 2 replacements in 2 weeks. That's 3 fones! How ironic! First one, I set to autolock and it decided not to unlock. second one I changed the wallpaper to something I uploaded and it reset and kept resetting so I couldn't use it. Third one the USB port doesn't detect the cable! This is an unacceptable quality issue for a Japanese company!
you can place midi files on the phone for use as ringtones.. using the data transfer usb cable and software....
but i dont know how to put java games on it.
I have some java games on my pc and used to software to transfer but it just comes up as a non reconised file in teh 'other files' floder and doesnt show in the java section.. can any one help??
is it possible to use a sim card from vodafone or orange in this phone. have heard the sim cards for 3G run on different voltage than other cards which make it impossible to cancel the contract with for example 3 after 1 year
Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention;
The Nec 616 has bluetooth but it only appears to work for telephoney ie. handsfree - try and transfer a file and you're greated with an error message.
Great looking phone but let down by some really silly oversights. Plays Mp3's but only into a mono earphone!
Doesn't have a speakerphone - this means on video calls you have to use the headset/earphone.
You can't add contacts to the phone from your PC in the same easy way as a Nokia 7600 or Motorola A835
The only ringtones you appear to be able to use are downloaded from 3's website - I cannot find a way to upload them fom the PC.
When transfering files from the phone to PC or PC to phone, you have to set the phone into USB transfer mode as well as running the software on the PC.
I do quite like some of the features such as the camera light and fancy blue flashing LED on voice calls but, for me, the negatives outweigh the positives. The phone is going back.
it's out in HK's 3 for more than a month now for HK$3980 & they have the 313 for hk$980 only! with a plan of 18months @ $hk180
Please please help me so that we can play games on the phone. Do we need to download them or are they already installed into the phone?
this looks as though its gonna be a great phone and going by the enquiries an even better seller!! but please we dont know the price or when its coming so give us a break!!
In north Italy it's already on sale for about 645,00 Euro. I would wait until Christmas offers, surely the price would slim down a bit...
