Netflix

Netflix posted its results for the October through December 2024 quarter, revealing a huge milestone for the company. The streaming service reached 301 million paid memberships, a 16% increase or 18.91 million new members — the biggest increase in additions since the company started operating globally.

Sadly, the announcement also came that Netflix will raise the monthly prices in the United States again – the third increase in three years. In a note to shareholders, it was revealed the Standard plan with ads will be $7.99, Standard with no ads is jumping from $15.49 to $17.99, while Premium is set at $24.99, starting this month.

Other countries that will also see price increases are Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.

Standard with ads $7.99 $6.99 - - - -
Basic (Discontinued) - $11.99 $9.99 $8.99 $8.99 $7.99

Premium $24.99 $22.99 $19.99 $17.99 $15.99 $13.99

The company revealed Q4 outperformed its high expectations. The popular drama Squid Game 2 is on track to become the most watched original series season, Carry-On is in the all-time Top 10 films list, the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight was the most-streamed sporting event, and the Christmas Day games Chiefs vs Steelers, and Ravens vs Texans, were the most streamed NFL games in history.

On a broader scale, Netflix reported 16% increase in Q4 '24 revenue and almost doubled its net income, compared to Q4 '23. The forecast is revenue, operating profit and income to all increase in the next three months as well.

Your original comment said nothing about Netflix, therefore it was open to interpretation. Also, while I do support getting physical media over digital, it doesn't change the fact that one can lose access to digital media they purchased. ...
