New Chinese flagships at the end of the year to have at least 7,000 mAh batteries

Batteries with silicon in them have appeared over the past few months in almost all Chinese flagship smartphones, and the new tech has enabled a much higher density compared to traditional Li-Ion batteries, which means we're currently in the middle of an arms race for cramming as many mAh into a cell as possible without making devices overly thick.

This will continue throughout this year, according to a new rumor from China. And, towards the end of the year, when Chinese companies release their next-generation flagships, those powered by the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9500 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the baseline battery capacity for a top of the line device will become 7,000 mAh.

That's 1,000 mAh more than the baseline was last year at around 6,000 mAh, and of course it's a very welcome bit of news in our book. Furthermore, some flagships will actually go up to 7,500 mAh, while mid-rangers will even reach 8,000 mAh - Honor may in fact be launching a phone with such a huge battery in less than a week.

Anyway, back to the late 2025 Chinese flagships: all of them are expected to be able to do 100W wired charging with those 7,000-7,500 mAh batteries, as well as 50W to 80W wireless charging. All of this amounts to the revolution in longevity that we've all been anxiously expecting, and so battery life has the potential to stop being an issue for everyone, including the most demanding users.

That is, of course, if you buy Chinese flagship smartphones or mid-rangers. Samsung, Apple, and Google seem to have completely missed the silicon battery train, at least for now.

You read my mind! Exactly! The best I've seen in a long time was Realme 6i, the little bugger gave 186 hours (not a typo) of mixed use time, using just a 5000 mah battery, and a Mediatek G80 chipset, combined with a 720p+ display. You can c...
