Anonymous, 25 Oct 2014Lollipop just released a few months ago, no way you have had it since June Actually it is the first developer preview was already available for download since June. The one released in October is the third developer preview.
Samsung users won't get much benefit from updating to lollipop. One of the major changes in lollipop is the interface and all Samsung with do is keep touchwiz on top of it. Most users will not have an improved experience. But hey, most android users don't care about updates.
Limited, 26 Oct 2014Well to answer your question, 4.4.2 runs on KITKAT under Dalvik (or "just in time" p... moreForgive me the pun, but that is a pretty "Limited" view of what Lollipop brings.
Yes, there is that big change under-the-hood (which many already got to "beta-test" under Kitkat), but then we also have a whole revamp of the UI with the new "Material Design".
Not only there are new features (new ways to interact with notifications and function toggles) it's the whole experience that becomes a lot more smoother -- something which Android detractors have always complained about when pitting it against iOS.
There are many good times ahead of us, with Android getting a smother UI experience like iOS and iOS trying to get more open to 3rd-party addons like Android (keyboards for instance).
Only Microsoft hasn't woken-up from their "every user must use our interface like we want" deep sleep.
It's a win-win for everyone.
AnonD-57516, 25 Oct 2014S3 is way obsolete. A nearly 3yr old model, time to get a new fone. Just grab the new S5 or No... moreIt's actually 2 year old, but don't let facts get in the way of your narrative.
AnonD-323805, 25 Oct 2014I have a question. What is different between android 4.4.2 and 5.0?Well to answer your question, 4.4.2 runs on KITKAT under Dalvik (or "just in time" process). While 5.0 Lollipop runs officially on ART which employs (AOT or Ahead Of Time) Meaning, apps will run faster, android will be smoother.
Dang! Why the Samsung "flasgship" so behind in updates? Only to find out it's only for ONE out of 10 carriers that offer it worldwide -_-
I have a question. What is different between android 4.4.2 and 5.0?
Yeah right wishful thinking, more like 5-6 months after the OS release. Google needs to ban all these rubbish Touchwiz, timescape, optimus UI nonsense for good. Those who cant adhere to the stock experience should be banned from having any of the Google apps including play store.
maybe samsung s4 mini could get official release of 4.4 kitkat before, dam you slowass on samsung.
njay, 25 Oct 2014SAMSUNG s4 will get updated or not?Probably not. Only when Galaxy S6 comes out than S4 will get it. That's what usually happened in the past with new Android releases. Basing off history only. But who knows Samsung could feel generous and release it earlier.
Anonymous, 24 Oct 2014What about S3, note2, galaxy core, s duos 2, galaxy young, grand, grand 2????????Sammy might update only the current flagships. I wouldn't expect these mid-rangers getting updates.
SunilShetty, 25 Oct 2014LOL international s3 struck at android 4.3S3 is way obsolete. A nearly 3yr old model, time to get a new fone. Just grab the new S5 or Note 4 you'll be happier. Stylish yet power efficient.
