Where is old largest phone and smartphone producer...Nokia ?! Where is "the best(worst)" OS that is..Windows Phone ?
I rly want strong competitor for Apple and Google but MS is himself guilty. Limited freedom for users, lack many functions..add it after 4 years is top late.

Fact is, sales of Xiaomi have pushed it up into third largest place, over Huawei. No matter how many pinches of salt you take, that is still a lot of sales.

Agree with your statement regarding S5, iPhone and Mi4, but that is at the high end spectrum. There are a lot of sales at the low end and mid level.

For Apple, this will not affect them so much, as they do not really compete in the low/mid level. Samsung however does, and as we can see, lately they have experienced 3 full quarters of declining profits. Reason given? Loss of sales. Yet their high end phones, S5 and Note 4 apparently are selling at a steady rate.

Conclusion? Xiaomi (and Huawei and other chinese manufacturers), are eating Samsung from the bottom.

Duh it's basic economics a lower priced good will always outsell a high priced good -- even more so in developing countries where people naturally have less cash. You need to take the figures with a dash of salt, these are units sold, not revenue or profit which other manufacturers would mostly crush them but we won't know since Xiaomi is a private company so they get to keep these very important figures all to themselves.

Fact is here in China most of the people who buy a Xiaomi do so not because they really genuinely want one, but because it's all they can afford. Go out into the street with a S5, iPhone 5, and Mi 4 and ask random people to pick one of their choice for free on the grounds they cannot resell it for profit or regift it, the Mi 4 would still be picked last 99.9% of the time. Lower and no income people, poor students, and old people (grand parents) buy Xiaomi phones in China -- and that's a big market which is why their sales are growing year over year as they become more well known.

Apple and Samsung are still the must-have status-symbol brands in China.

Xiaomi has been providing phones with excellent specifications the best prices. This shows us that the top Manufacturers like Apple, Iphone, HTC have been ripping people with exorbitant costs.
