Yeah and the battery will last for 1-2 hours ! My god how useless technology has began to be ! In 2020 we will have 40K screen on phones and a lot of charging stations all over the city because the battery will last for minutes ! The MAIN PROBLEM is the BATTERY life not the screens ! I don't know why but I think a lot of peoples will give up this useless smartphones and go back to the simple phones wich are the best ! I am a phone collector ( old models ) and I see a lot of peoples that wants to go back to the oldies but they can't .

Stupid. 4k is barely visible on a 60" from 8 feet, and it's completely useless o a 6" screen.

Yes, the technology is getting cheaper, but it is nothing more than marketing gimmick for this purpose.

I'd rather have 720px, a good fingerprint sensor and a longer battery life.

We are in a world where technology advances so rapidly and there's no way but to move forward. Nothing and no one would want to do everything backwards in advancements. If it is getting so ridiculous to get a 4K screen on your phone, there's a possibility that in the coming years we'll all be having hologram screens! Remember when we're okay with the 720p resolution and some of us kept saying that FHD is just overkill and later on FHD is the standard and now 2K is and FHD is now just a mediocre. That's life. :)

Some day in the future phone OEMs will realise that all consumers want is a phone that doesn't lag, with an SD slot and great battery life. But today is not that day.

So what's the point. People are good with FHD. And also, I think that these panels will be insanely expensive, because it's hard to put over 8 million pixels on 5 inch screen. Plus this will consume much energy and I hope that in 2016 mobile GPUs will be able to run such monster with no lag.

Worthless, pls stop the useless pixel race on smaller screens thans 7", fhd is more than enough then.

2K andere 4K is an battery drainer and uses gpu to much, and on 4K even lag.

I think battery life should be the main focus with smart phones now not the screens.

To those (including the author) that claim this is ridiculous, just try this simple test yourself on any phone, phablet, tablet, laptop or pc...

And then re-think your claim....

what? people hardly find much of a difference even between a 720p screen and 1080p screen on a 5 inch device and now this? 4k? seriously? technology beyond a certain point really gets useless!
please use your time and labour on some parts that needs serious improvement.

Why do you still wonder about it? They MUST produce such insanities, because otherwise they would have to admit they have nothing new. Better batteries - in a century, perhaps. Display brightness - a year after that. A no-lagging android even about ten years later...
And don't worry, their marketing departments will certainly explain, why exactly do you need this...
