If you don't have the US version with 2GB of RAM, then there is no KitKat update because the skin with all the Touchwiz features didn't fit with 1 GB of RAM.

Full metal my as. Its the same like my s4 is chrome (coated plastic). You should check Galaxy Alpha at ifixit and see this ivory colored plastic covered by this layer of aluminium.

GVR, 31 Oct 2014S3 LTE got the update of Kitkat, as it had 1.5gb RAM. International version of S3 had 1gb RAM,... more...thought KitKat was meant to run better on lower spec devices than JB 4.3 (not that the S3 is especially low spec)...

International version of S3 had 1gb RAM, which was the cited reason by Samsung, for not updating S3. I do agree that some brands have updated their complete line up like Sony is planning to update Lolipop to even Xperia Z, with Z3 already in market. But having said that, Samsung cannot let-go any of the interesting features like Smart Stay, Group Play, Pause or Scroll features which are part of bloatware and people do buy Samsung enticed by these features. I own a S3 for the last 2+ years, and I am disappointed that my phone will not get updated to Kitkat. But, I dont want to loose any of the features on the phone, to get a later OS version. I will probably change my phone to a better one in a year, if it becomes obsolete.

wakkam, 31 Oct 2014I thought google blocked external storage? ??..Google didn't block external storage, it's a major feature of Android. Google just doesn't like external storage on its own Nexus devices.
