Over the years, what ... moreI Agree with Droid taking, every android device with 1gb ram and less has so many lags, the android problem is with java language, even in computers java has so many problems and it's heavy really heavy, take a look at firefox ram usage or any java based programs... only nexus series and those phones without ui features run smoothly, Motorola = pure AOSP, Sony = Near pure, Htc = sense ui low features, Samsung = touchwiz with lots of features = lags, so many lags, LG = oh this one doesn't know how to match the software with hardware look at g3 with 4K resolution that create so many lags and treble battery lifetime...

Android needs at least 4gb of ram for full features, and lollipop with x64 and ART run time these 2 needs rams and storage to run well

First of all Samsung needs to change outdated tabs system ( in menu, contacts, logs etc). Screens should switch by swiping not by tapping tabs (which is very uncomfortable on large screen phones). However this hasn't been done yet...
Also, it is just impossible task to combine Android excellent material design and outdated TouchWiz and its logic in unified design. The best way would be to give customers a choice between pure Android and TouchWiz version on the same device. No one company has done it yet, so being first Samsung could benefit a lot and regain customer loyalty.

        Not Android.

Over the years, what is the only thing covering up Android? Hardware.

Over the years, what is the only thing Android fanboys talk about? Hardware.

Over the years, what makes Android "improved"? Removing features.

Android has always been good. Google is just doing even better now.

Here in reality all systems have hiccups and imperfections because there is no such thing as perfection.
Anyone who has seen/used/studied all or most phone systems "and is not in denial" knows that they all have had lag and crash.

The ones in denial pretend it does not happen for their preferred os/device, while exaggerating the existence of it on other platforms out of hurt.

System wide lock down, utter lack of features "it took them three phones and an update to include mms...legit" and only having to support one device.....while still somehow continually having the world lead in app crashes by a huge margin and gaining more and more bugs in desperation to release rushed updates......
Is pure utter laziness. Not optimization....
And how are all those freezes and lags the last couple years with un accounted for added system weight, considered optimized or good....or not count in your little lag rant?

Meanwhile Android has only been moving forward.
Keep twisting in denial....Facts won't change.

Jellybean to fix the supposed lag. Android fanboys rejoiced.

But it turns out, its because of the brute force improvement of the cpu that hides the lag.

Google was embarrass. So they keep quiet and keep on 4.x for years.

Lollipop. Now they are trying again. Hopefully it works. However even if it does, its still not gonna overtake iOS which have started this optimisation since version 1.0.

If it fails.. expect to be in android 5.x for another few more years.

many things has been changed, less lags, more material better interface but it's still at kernel 3.4.xx the stock lollipop is on 3.10 version of kernel with supporting more features of Linux base, I hope the final release would be at 3.10,
and to those who said update 4.4.4, kitkat 4.4.4 has only the update on radio and call issues, maybe samsung update the rest directly to lollipop, but when?!! maybe next year
Lollipop is so sweet and so smooth on device.
and the white theme... nexus 6 is also has amoled screen but battery uses less as lollipop is much more conservative and how many hours would you be in the setting for god's sake?!! don't blame so much, it is what it is....

oh please, USA/Korea always gets everything first the International Samsung Galaxy S5 would probably get its 5.0 update on February or March next year. This guy is from T-Mobile, it's only US Carrier-locked S5's will get this 5.0 update early, just like the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat where the International S5 didn't receive any update while US Carriers are already on 4.4.4 since early last month. DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING from Samsung! This December the International variant will receive the 4.4.4 update. 5.0 will be next year.
