The S4 Pro is/was a high-end CPU so of course they want to upgrade it, because of prestige and manufacturer demand.

It's more relevant if low-end CPUs from Qualcomm have updates.

Don't compare $150 MTK phones with $800 Qualcomm phones. Are the $150 Qualcomm phones updated?

r u really expecting that these MTK HTC phones will be cheap? MediaTek also smelled money and profit and they are not so cheap any more...especially if their chipset is in HTC or any other top name in mobile world. lets see...

HTC want high end spec with low costing.
                  so MTK is the answer.

using MTK is good idea however the performances quality not same as Qualcomm does.
                    However the price might cheaper.

I think one should try both and then take the better.who knows may be the mtk chipset is better than qualcomms.same in the case of exynos.one should not chose a phone because of the name of the chip but the overall performance of it.
In India many people buy Samsung phone just because of the name.so use and then decide which one to go for.

Both the chipsets are same except for clock speed and GPU......Both are based on ARM a53 reference cores.....b4 Qualcomm chips came with their own custom cores....now all their chipsets (ie 410 610 615 810) are based fully on. Arm reference design, just like exynos, Apple, mediatek, etc....snapdragon 800,801 and 805 are great performers because of their custom cores ...next generation phones will have arm designs, and real world performance may be worse than 801,805.....next generation phones will may have heating and performance issues

AnonD-96631, 04 Nov 2014but MTK chipset devices has a low value when it comes to updating the android version.. Mediatek has released Kitkat drivers for all recent chipsets, so if there is a phone with MediaTek chipset that's not getting an update it's only the manufacturers fault.

Actually Qualcomm is worse since they have several dual-SIM/TD-LTE Snapdragon 400-chipsets in China that only have 4.3-drivers available to the manufacturer. These were released in 2014.

And has Qualcomm upgraded all the Snapdragon 200 or S4 Play chipsets to Kitkat? I really doubt it, many are stuck at 4.1 or even worse.
