You're trivializing major historical movements because of your juvenile hatred for a company. On top of that, you're butchering the English language.

This shows how pathetic apple is. And how their politic is a comunist from buttom to the top while creating their voters whit it. This is not something to laugh at, this is just sad, sad how companies play dictatorship and allot of sheeps vote for them. This type of companies reminds me of nazi/comunism era.

You can choose whether to use it or not, there is an ON/OFF switch in settings. It does work together within the same window quite seamlessly when on.

iMessage is more similar to a messenger app, but is able to switch to SMS smoothly within the same window making it very convenient. It has also been found to be one the most secure messenger services by EFF:

          https://www.eff.org/press/releases/which-messaging-technologies-are-truly-safe-and-secure

That being said, the deregister tool could have been brought out sooner as a matter of convenience.

Messages are sent over data connection, not carrier's services, and you can send it from ipod touch or Mac. Sending international texts is much cheaper than paying carrier SMS charges.

Can't believe they even built a walled garden around something so open as SMS texting. I'm sure they can monetize it, but it's just technolically rude to not be backwards compatible.

The biggest mistake is to start using iMessage in the first place, Apple shouldnt push or recommend this service, it never had any justification for its own existence.
