Makes perfect sense and is the reason why I hadn't seen the option before in M11.

Xposed anyone? I'd like to have this without the incredibly unstable cyanogenmod!

Are you serious? If I unlock the phone, then I will probably use it...

This feature is also available on the open source CyanogenMod version 11. To see the option, you will have to enable PIN as your unlock mode first.

AnonD-209094, 12 Nov 2014Who cares, its useless, one can still see the numbers and since the user has to enter the PIN ... moreI pretty much agree

Re Pin you only have 3 guesses and then you have to use PUK in combination with the pin

The pin (sim) is ONLY required if the phone is switched off

If they get past that there is the phone lock which kicks in after X time of inactivity.

Re Android too many pattern attempts 3? block the phone which then needs your Gmail to unlock it

With password too many attempts temporarily blocks the phone (5 mins?) before you can attempt to unlock the phone

                  Re Blackberry
I understand that 10 failed attempts wipe a Blackberry.

There are features already built into Operating Systems which address this, Infinite pin attempts have already been addressed so thus is only if benefit if you can make multiple tries.

By far the weakest OS is Windows
The ONLY security feature are sim pin and phone lock.
The is NO other inbuilt security feature like sim change notification or standalone third App security

There is find my phone, but coming from Android to Windows my phone feels naked because of this

Phone locking /opening have already been addressed more attention is needed by Microsoft as my anti theft Android means the phone cant be used as a media device MP 4 as only ONE screen is offered, you can't access camera radio, music player etc.

I have an app call AppLock to lock certain apps (messages, facebook, etc) which has a PIN. This app also has a PIN scrambler. No doubt other similar apps have this feature so this isn't new.

when u start to use the phone, your swiping action will blur out all those fingerprint anyway..

You don't really need that feature - just use pretty much ALL the digits on the keypad. Frankly, I have no idea what my PIN is in NUMBERS - I just type it, you guessed it, with the muscle memory of its shape. Much like one would use the "dot pattern" sliding unlock, only without the telltale smudge lines...
