Anonym, 12 Nov 2014Well, I have the CM11 M11 on a LG Optimus G and I don't have this feature. This has to either... moreWho cares, its useless, one can still see the numbers and since the user has to enter the PIN much more slowly its actually less safe than regular unscrambled PIN. The more time you spend at the lockscreen the higher the risk. BlackBerry has a safe scrambled one thats fast and impossible to crack even if you put the phone in the face of other people and let them watch carefully how you unlock it, if done right they have no chance to crack it even if you do it 10 times in front of their nose.

This has to either have been introduced in the last month or the report is simply accurate and it only exists for certain kinds of Cyanogenmod.

This feature is not new and has been around for sometime on Android Custom Builds and LG Roms.

I'm surprised this was never implemented on ATM machines, at least not any I've used before.

This technique is by no means new as I visited a university back in 1997 that had scrambled LED digit buttons on its pin entry to its computer labs. The digits had a narrow viewing angle so you could only see the digits head on.

That was originally created by the folks at Omni (pulser iirc) and then was forked by all the other projects, including CM. If they are going to make this proprietary-only, that's going to piss off the guys that created it initially.
