Paul, 16 Jul 2009Nokia's S60 v5 for touchscreen is not that good, no kinetic scrolling apart from the web brows... moreThe Nokia 5530 will offer kinetic scrolling.
It is going into CPW in the UK from 11th of August with an 8 week exclusive.
EdyB, 16 Jul 2009So they build good low-ends...that's great. Too bad the mid and high-ends are only crappy expe... moreWhat you are saying is neither here nor there as the only thing that's important is the sales figures. I'm afraid not everyone thinks as you do coz if they did then their market share figures would have materially declined, as it is at the moment, Nokia actually increased it's smart phone market share.
Nokia estimated mobile device market share of 38% in Q2 2009, down from 40% in Q2 2008 and up from 37% in Q1 2009.
So they build good low-ends...that's great. Too bad the mid and high-ends are only crappy expensive low-ends.
rajiev, 16 Jul 2009nokia boycotted in iran; sales fall by 50%I don't think that Iran is one of the strategic markets for Nokia... And they probably can lough at you with the money made selling equipment... I just want to say it again, Welcome to the World of Capitalism and free economy...
But, Well, Nokias profits are Up and looking good! And who was starting panic?
So Nokia is down 71%!
No wander... Nokia phones are crap these days.
Nokia is #1 and will stay #1 just wait and c what Nokia will hit in the market soon.
Nokia's S60 v5 for touchscreen is not that good, no kinetic scrolling apart from the web browser & no word correction or suggestion, win mobile & android have had there’s since day 1.
Non touchscreen no one can beat Nokia Symbian but on a touchscreen phone, win mobile (HTC & Samsung) & Android (HTC) nokia at the moment cannot compete, this may change when the open source Symbian foundation gets released but until then Nokia is now in 4th pace behind Win Mobile, Apple & Android.
Regardless of how people would think or feel, the facts would speak for themselves.
Cheers to Nokia! Undeniably unbeatable and unmatched!
i just saw news on BBC. they said that their profit has decreased 66%. and are blaming low demand . um little confused by this news. they are comparing quarters . this might b the case. GSMARENA team....come with answer and more facts
FOKIA, 16 Jul 2009take that samsungheheh!! They are already expecting a strong 2nd quarter result. Operating profits jumped five folds from 1st quarter.
LouisLoh, 16 Jul 2009Again, they are not contradictory. Read CAREFULLY, Engadget posted YoY comparisons, while GSMA... moresorry didnt notice that i have been awake for more than 24 hours working i read it quickly so excuse me now i feel so silly lol
thanks anyways guys :)
It has got to do with the perspective of reporting. Where as all other major news sites are highlighting "Nokia cuts profit, market share outlook", GSMArena took a different approach and highlighting the positive side of the story.
Anonymous, 16 Jul 2009i dont get it GSMarena says something and engadget says the opposite :S lol which one is right... moreAgain, they are not contradictory. Read CAREFULLY, Engadget posted YoY comparisons, while GSMArena posted QoQ comparisons (mainly, it did mention the -71% YoY).
