Google play services is an app which most other apps of your phone use to gain information about your Google Global Profile and account or activities. Its basically the same app as google settings on your phone. If you use it you will know that it provides required information for other apps to function.
As for the update, that will just give you a notification without you having to install any app.
Hopefully if android one Indonesia is launching on 20th and Google updates its database on Wednesdays, 25th Feb is the date for 5.1 update

What a beautiful prank...! Guys don't believe the google play service update post only KitKat 4.4.4 can hold up to 6.5.99 only...The devices which are currently running lollipop can withstand more than 6.6.03
