guy2, 24 Nov 2014Ha, ha. What's next in android phones? Looks like by 2020, we will have a phone that have 16 G... moreIt will be much more than that.
But you're right....let's just go back to flip phones from 2000.Who needs technology advancement over the years.
AnonD-80583, 24 Nov 2014of course A8x is the most powerful chip right now it has almost 2bn transistors , besides don'... moreNot. They are fooling people with their low clock speed.
They use low clock speed for two main reasons.
1.low battery capacity and 2. profit which ties back into the first one.
The 8x is not that far ahead nor is the 8
Muthu, 24 Nov 2014Not only that, Qualcomm sacked its CoE for calling 64-bit in Apple A7 as gimmick. There is no ... moreI think he got transferred rather than fired :P Won't really call it a verdict. But qualcomm must have realised that one of its executives calling the obvious future direction (their own words a week later from the original comment) of mobile processors a 'gimmick' with no substantiating evidence isn't really going to go well with people whi know their technology.. Though android fanboys loved it. They still believe in it like it is the word of god :P
There were benifits other than more ram which they just couldn't really deny.
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2014Well since you are a fanboy in denial you can go ahead and read the iphone 5s review gsmarena ... moreNot only that, Qualcomm sacked its CoE for calling 64-bit in Apple A7 as gimmick. There is no stronger verdict that that, right?
Talks, 24 Nov 2014Anandtech? Really? are you referring to someone who is, who was, and who will be favorring App... moreWell since you are a fanboy in denial you can go ahead and read the iphone 5s review gsmarena did under the "performance" section and compare the 5 vs 5s performance which will still give you the same conclusion, that whatever qualcomm tried to say there was no denying that 64bit was improving performance whether or not you crossed the 4gb barrier.
And if you stop being a fanboy you will observe "good" android devices have got better reviews on anandtech than iphones..
Realism 101, 24 Nov 2014Ok, I see that allot of people clearly missed the "DEVELOPMENT PLATFORMS" parts so l... moreYou may disagree but I can see 4 GB of RAM coming along like a train down the tracks. Whether we really need it or not is another discussion. When realistcally are we likely to see commercially avaiable devices shipping with the 810 processor?
Muthu, 24 Nov 2014Agree completely with you. We don't need 4GB RAM for phones. Well, it doesn't you need those 4 GB now, but later after each app will need 1 GB, like it was the same with PC games, and you really had to wait until RAM was used a lot.
nexus 5, 24 Nov 2014you must be mistaking me. i'm not a fanboy of anything, what the hmmm. you misunderstood my id... moreWell if you say things like 'apple a8 is c r a p' and 'i don't need to read anything related to apple' you start sounding like a fanboy. Hence the confusion.
we can play 4ormore ,1080p movies simultaneously with 4 gb ram and 100x better multitasking
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2014Not really. Apple 64 bit processors were as real as any of these. Qualcomm was just trying to ... moreAnandtech? Really? are you referring to someone who is, who was, and who will be favorring Apple in all of his reviews? if you only have referred us to a post made by this reputable GSMArena website, I might believe. hmm but with Anandtech? TRASH!
guy2, 24 Nov 2014Ha, ha. What's next in android phones? Looks like by 2020, we will have a phone that have 16 G... moreIt will end when consumers stop buying new phones. Or at least when consumers stop buying flagship phones and instead opt for the mid-range or upper mid-range phones. Don't blame or criticize the tech companies blame/criticize the tech user.
Muthu, 24 Nov 2014It is becoming more and more funny. I already mentioned i am an android fan and I haven't run ... moreyou must be mistaking me. i'm not a fanboy of anything, what the hmmm. you misunderstood my ideea. i never talked about a processor in my life, this is the first time. Qualcomm exists in most of these devices, that's all.
Muthu, 24 Nov 2014Agree completely with you. We don't need 4GB RAM for phones. Not for phones, but for smartphones, yes! It is needed.
Muthu, 24 Nov 2014Agree completely with you. We don't need 4GB RAM for phones. Two years ago, i used to say same thing , when rumors were around the corner regarding 2GB Ram mobile phones.
And now i say 2GB is not enough.. I need more :D :D
Ok, I see that allot of people clearly missed the "DEVELOPMENT PLATFORMS" parts so let me put it in short terms. THESE TWO DEVICES ARE NOT MEANT FOR AVERAGE CONSUMERS! These devices are meant to be used by the developers. That's why they are fully loaded with sensors and the latest hardware. 4 gigs of RAM are there for testing purposes only. These devices are meant to be pushed to their limits, so when your beloved Z4, S6, HTC M9 hits development, the developers will know exactly what to look for
Ha, ha. What's next in android phones? Looks like by 2020, we will have a phone that have 16 GB RAM, 20 Core CPU and 320 GB internal storage.
When will this craziness gon'na end? -_-
Muthu, 24 Nov 2014It is becoming more and more funny. I already mentioned i am an android fan and I haven't run ... moreNaah. There is this 'Apple Hate Fanboy' category. There are fanboys of everything that is in competition to apple.
It is a sad state that these days people put fanboyism ahead of well researched and tested articles by far more knowledgible and unbiased people..
Been an android user all my life but I don't go around denying that apple has huge contributions in SoC and optimizing and designing their iOS as they have (it does put restrictions like lack of true multi tasking but delivers performancewise). Sadly I get branded as an Android hater for that..
I really want the Android spec race to end at some point. My laptop should need 4gb ram to run smoothly not my phone :P
guys guys guys guuuyyys!!!... so this is the latest bomb huh? .. 4gig ram?.. And what happens by next two years will look like 10gig ram on 16cores powered by a mini reactor.. Great.. please mother nature keep me alive till next 5yrs at least so i can witness what nonsensical this OEMs will come up with
