Lord Jeebus, 24 Nov 2014Why just Aids day what about all the other terrible diseases Various Cancers, Malaria, Ebola, ... moreBecause AIDS/HIV is around the world since the 1600's and still no cure, only preventions, thus a threat to humanity. Other diseases you mention are just the latter of the scene. Organizations had been built throughout the centuries long before this was declared World Aids Day. please don't discriminate, this is for a good cause. NOT an iFan, but understand the fact here
I suddenly lost my faith in humanity after reading some comments in here
Lord Jeebus, 24 Nov 2014Why just Aids day what about all the other terrible diseases Various Cancers, Malaria, Ebola, ... moreDidn't know all of those diseases you mentioned had a Worlds Day.
Never really heard of World Malaria Day and had NO idea there was such a thing as World Ebola Day. Enlighten me?
It's awfully considerate of a corporation that has $200 billion hoarded away to give me the chance to donate my money to charity by buying their products.
Lord Jeebus, 24 Nov 2014Why just Aids day what about all the other terrible diseases Various Cancers, Malaria, Ebola, ... moreWell, it's not that they wouldn't or don't support other research, but HIV is a slightly different beast.
It's spread predominantly through unsafe sex, and that is something that can easily be prevented.
To fight AIDS however, people need access to affordable medication, and that's not so easy. Unfortunately, HIV medication is extremely expensive, and without this medication, millions of people around the world will certainly face death due to AIDS.
[deleted post]What a dumb thing to say. In western societies HIV (not necessarily AIDS) infections are much higher amongst the LGBTI community, but for millions of people around Africa and the world, the same just isn't true.
Open your eyes or watch the news once in a while.
[deleted post]Apple has supported Product Red for years - long before Tim Cook became CEO. HIV/AIDS is not limited to gay people. Straight people and drug abusers are susceptible too. It is rife in parts of Africa due to poorer hygene standards, family planning practices, and disease control - not because most Africans are gay.
It's disappointing to read the comments here. People are really scraping the barrel and bringing out the worst in themselves over a charitable effort by particular company they happen to irrationally hate. Petty doesn't begin to describe it.
Why just Aids day what about all the other terrible diseases Various Cancers, Malaria, Ebola, and lhyme disease. Why did they just focus on Aids.

don't make some harsh comments. this is not for own good. either you support or not. leave it cool :-)
Is this some joke there just putting extra content in apps which can be purchased and than part of that extra money goes to charity. Greedy apple. That poor billgates alone gives dozens times more charity than this big greedy apple.that is richer than most countries.
Sounds like a scheme.
No real need to display fanboyism or hater attitude to everything. If something raises awareness, good. Regardless who does it.
"On December 1, every product sold by Apple will contribute a donation for the fight against AIDS."
So how big of a donation are we talking about here? Considering how stingy Apple can be, I guess it's not a lot. But still, any amount can help, and this could prove to be a great awareness campaign. So good work Apple.
That's awesome
