But since you only owned a S2 before, it lacks of consistency. Let me help you, i owned all galaxy S from S1 to S5.
Actually S5 is a great device to top the series but it certainly lacks of style (hence the Galaxy Alpha released so soon). S5 doesn't have all features of S4 (i miss the wonderful quick glance for example).
Billy, 24 Nov 2014Not too surprising. The S4 was superior in styling where the S5 looked similar but not as good... moreTotally agree. The S4 was way more stylish compared to the ribbed condom sides of the S5. The non-grip backside also felt cheap compared to touch of the note series covers.
I would like to help Samsung get out of trouble. I will buy one of their unsold S5's for £100. (Any colour will do.

There are three comments worthy of me mentioning...
1. "Does it need a genius to figure the reason of low sales? Lets look at the US where the sales unassumingly was high because Americans despise Chinese innovations as cheap. Chinese decided to ditch Samsung in favor of home grown devices of equal or better performances, eg Meizu, Xiaomi, Lenovo etc"
2. "It's the non-techies whom can't see the improvements and keep dwelling upon these ridiculous QHD screens that eat GPU-performance and destroy battery-endurance.
3. "recession is everywhere"
I have been a long time Nokia user. From series 30 to series 40 to series 60. I never thought I would give up Symbian until I met the Galaxy SII i9100. I have owned 9 Nokia phones and my first Samsung was the S2. The S2 easily blows away every Nokia I ever owned...especially in memory and the video recording department.
When I first saw the S5 online I thought it would be a failure. I told myself that when I upgrade from the S2 I would get a S4...all that changed when I won a S5 Octa-Core. First of all it looks better in person than on screen and with mines being white it looks even nicer than the other colour options. I had planned to keep my S2 for about 5 years especially seeing that it's so fast...so I was thinking of selling my S5. I have now changed my mind. First of all the S5 if faster than the S2 and of course it has more features than the S2. In fact the S5 quietly has ALL the features of the S4 plus more. I like the battery timing and the charging time of the S5. The S5 seems to have the lowest power consumption of all the Galaxy S series. I was pleasantly surprised to know that I can be on Wi-Fi and browse the internet continuously and only lose 1% battery in 10 minutes. That's amazing...those who have an S2 will surely agree with me. More over the S5 has an amazing camera and it beats the S2 camera especially in flash photography at nights...yet the S2 camera is still one of the best on the market. The S5 is definitely a worthy upgrade over the previous Galaxys. I have learnt not to judge something until you have actually used it. My only disappointment was that the S5 didn't come with 3GB of RAM seeing how the S to Note series trend have been...Note 2 came out with 2GB RAM then the S4 came out with 2GB. All in all though the S5 is still a speed beast and a worthy upgrade. All of this is coming from someone who has been in the Computer Science /IT field for decades who is hard on rating technology.
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2014Not just that but making it 5.5inch mixed it into their phablet line up too. Compact or not. P... moreI'd suggest if they concentrated on better customer care which breeds loyalty and better design and build quality, they would have grown sales rather than haemorrhaging sales!
Not that difficult!
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2014It is impossible to stay up to date with the latest phone... they come out to fast. A galaxy S... moreI very much adhere to you view, smartphones are being churned out way too fast. Then to come to the S4: The S4 is such a good phone and absolutely very capable that it is not so easy to replace, in fact, maybe this is one of the shadows that was casted in advance of the coming into the scene of the S5, basically the S4 doesn't have much to envy the S5, thus one of the reasons why the S5 isn't doing so well as expected.
Anonymous, 24 Nov 2014Right. Has nothing to do simply with others finally catching up and even chalet brands having ... moreHardly the best...
Only most expensive, and most marketed, disgustingly much so...
Just like apple...
People are obviously catching up to the deceit...
It is impossible to stay up to date with the latest phone... they come out to fast. A galaxy S3 (even an S2) has great performances - good camera and large memory. Why should i spend 500 Euro on a new phone when my old one still works great ?????
darkraver, 24 Nov 2014Not sorry at all... Just keep loosing profit samsung, you lame manufacturer
You give android ... moreRight. Has nothing to do simply with others finally catching up and even chalet brands having great options.
And yeah. Being one of the best out there makes them so terrible.
Logic was never your Forte
Does it need a genius to figure the reason of low sales? Lets look at the US where the sales unassumingly was high because Americans despise Chinese innovations as cheap. Chinese decided to ditch Samsung in favor of home grown devices of equal or better performances, eg Meizu, Xiaomi, Lenovo etc!
AnonD-52738, 24 Nov 2014That is your though. Plenty users prefer much bigger screen like from 5.5" up to 6".... moreWrong. They were correct. 5-5.2inch depending on compactness should be about the maximum for these flagship.
Some people like lathe phones. Not everyone. In fact even that's too big for some people. And the Z compact and Alpha are the only really good higher end alternatives for smaller devices that are flagship grade.
And your logic is extremely failed because for people who want the larger devices these companies have them.
Note and Mega. G Pro. The Max.
They already have their larger screened versions.
So LG going to 5.5 was a mistake. If samsung goes beyond 5.2 especially without a large decrease in bezels that will be a mistake.
The nexus line going all the way to 6 inches with no smaller option was a mistake. The turbo is not a Nexus.
We told you that nothing comes close to iPhone in all aspects including sales. 2 million people are using S5, shame. only now 10 million of people are using iPhone 6. iPhone my second religion
AnonD-52738, 24 Nov 2014This S5 is crazy ugly. The time it was announced I already pretty sure it can't sales. Meanwhile only jelly haters online say that. And it was the best overall device at its time and the back made it very durable and extremely comfortable to the touch
Muthu, 24 Nov 2014Your comment LG G3 was a perfect one. LG's decision to choose QHD (with SD 801) was a mistake ... moreNot just that but making it 5.5inch mixed it into their phablet line up too. Compact or not. Plus not only making the it a larger display and WQHD meant the need for more power. And just like they did with the G Pro they had to dim down the brightness on a already more reflective display.
And if that was not bad enough the battery. They stick with the same thickness as the G2 and same size battery despite
1. Having more room due to the larger display and same thickness
2.The G Pro 2 being 0.6mm thinner and still having a larger battery
3. The requirement of juice.
Sure in the end all in all it's great device. But they made some poor decisions.
Had they kept it more compact, brighter, and put in a 400mah larger battery things would be entirely different even with the slight performance drop in 801 with WQHD.
put it on Sale and I'll buy one... hehe!
It is strange. S4's video view angle is narrow: http://cdn.gsmarena.com/vv/reviewsimg/htc-one-vs-galaxy-s4/crops/fov-video-2.jpg
resolution is low: http://www.gsmarena.com/vidcmp.php3?idType=1&idPhone1=5371&idPhone2=6033&idPhone3=4238
S4's video is worse, than in s3.
s5 has wide angle, high resolution.
I think the reason the S5 did worse than the S4 was that it's biggest bug was hardware related while the S4's biggest bug was firmware related. The S5's camera comes defective from factory and often times glitches and fails to work properly. The S4 had a firmware glitch that would knock out service in specific areas, but Samsung fixed that via Firmware update a couple of weeks after they realized the issue existed.
Another thing I don't like about the S5 compared to the S4 is that the Task Manager of the S5 is vastly inferior to the S4's Task Manager. With the S4 Task Manager, you could look at running programs, a list of downloaded apps, and the RAM memory. You can clear the open apps to free up the RAM, or you can clear the RAM directly clearing up all unnecessary processes, including that of running apps. You don't get this option with the S5, the Task Manager on this phone only lets you clear the RAM from active apps.
AnonD-275729, 24 Nov 2014"S3, working? Well if you call that lag "working" we can blame it on a very loo... moreYour comment LG G3 was a perfect one. LG's decision to choose QHD (with SD 801) was a mistake in the spec race. If LG had chose FHD for G3, it would have been the perfect successor to G2.
This S5 is crazy ugly. The time it was announced I already pretty sure it can't sales.
Obviously! A flagship phone shouldn't be bigger than 4.7"-5" screen and with a small profile. S5 is too big and bulky, not enough innovation, and overpriced!
The S4 Advance i9506 has the same internal specs except for the camera, and was a better buy, and much better looking.
