The problem with Samsung is the lame Galaxy design. From low end to high end, most of the Galaxy features the same design pattern. Due to this very reason, the Galaxy brand hasn't been able to shine this year. The design has improved with the introduction of Galaxy Alpha but that is nothing but copying Apple's design.

AnonD-299124, 24 Nov 2014Maybe they shouldve focused on making products rather than ads mocking Apple.I actually agree with that. It's not that mocking Apple and its users isn't fun, but it isn't a good marketing technique unless you are a much much smaller competitor trying to go up against a giant. Even Apple's own "Mac vs PC" ads weren't effective in drumming up real sales.

Samsung's main competitor isn't Apple but other Android device makers. By singling out Apple, they effectively ignored the rest of the competition.

They should sort out their customer service as its terrible, they might be able to retain more customers that way.

They should end the S series with the S5, rather than risking damaging the great reputation the S series had any further and replace it with the new A series, carrying a much better and more premium design. Alpha 2 could be the flagship, Alpha 2 mini as the mid ranger and something like the Alpha Ace for a low end device. Phablets should stick to the Note series considering they are still doing fine so far. Just some spit balling type ideas. Something like this would definitely streamline things a whole lot.

If Samsung really wants to sell then they have to reduce the prices of their products. How can they think that I will buy a their phone if I am able to get a micromax phone with equivalent specs and half the price. I know that they want to make profit but isn't it silly to sell a mediocre phone at around 20000 INR.

pricing & styling is the major factor which makes this phone unfriendly to the common people, when they go with budget phones - they go with the old nokia strategy in making that product not too styled or does not have any complimentary fn. in specs with the scene. And with pricing, to make people feel premium qlty; like apple did they go with double to triple the price of the actual unit. In this midst even if a bit unreliable micromax and xiaomi's stand abetter chance.

This juggling the team will not work out for any company! Stock market, product portfolio etc...just buzz words....identify the team that won them market and keep faith in them, make them to product fantastic products...form a family of team and build products around them....just hiring and firing model won't work! If they don't trust their own team, no outsiders can fix their problems!

The problem these days with Samsung is instead of doing what people want, they're telling them what they want. I've suggested many things and Samsung still haven't done them in their phones, yet other manufacturers have, and Samsung continue to come out with the most gimmicky features nobody ever uses in their flagships, yet inexplicably leaves basic features missing. And now it's finally biting them in the butt! I'm not going back to Samsung until they give people what they want and reign in on their marketing hype.

Am Reminded of Ford Cars Executives bragging, "How will the customers know what they want, Unless We Give them..!!"
As a long term Samsung Customer, I was disappointed & disgusted at their Devil-may-care attitude, in last couple of Years. All my implores(via their twitter handle) to mend their ways fell on deaf ears. After occupying pole Position in mobiles, It's descent was alarmingly rapid. Now, I will wait & watch with much trepidation.

Market over-saturation...this is the biggest mistake of Samsung. Releasing devices on different segments which always gone to waste. And not to mention those bloatware that they added.

The decline will continue for at least another two years and more if it doesn't change it's mindset of forcing the customers to pay for it's mindless & not so useful add-ons.
