What a shame, a perspective OS will be waisted an an iphone-like fashionphone with no sd and no removable battery. Pass.

omg about time seems like it was centuries since they started working on Ubuntu for phone. although I don't think it will see any great market shares it certainly will be fun to have full Linux experience on a phone:)

I'm fact that was Apple's mistake in the early days of the desktop wars. They focused on creating the best os possible and forgot to garnet 3rd party support. In ios they learnt. They created a rather weak os in capabilities yet easy for 3rd parties to access it. If anything that's the only reason that they still keep their market share.

If it's truely lag free, batt-friendly and of course has major apps on it's market (comparable to AD or iOS) then she's a winner.

This could be what we have been waiting for, a optimized system (like IOS) that is open-source (unlike IOS). Woo-hoo!!

Well, as far I understand, then Meizu will not release device with Ubuntu Phone OS (like they were planning before), but will release Flyme OS which is based on Ubuntu.
It's quite disappointing, since Cannonical was planning to release Ubuntu Phone OS (Ubuntu Touch) already on 2013.
Development is so slow, I'm afraid - when they will finally release Ubuntu Phone, it will already be outdated. Development is focusing on graphic features, while performance, battery life is terrible. They use Nexus 4 as primary device, but Nexus 4 is already outdated. They use Android 4.x kernel, which is already outdated.
I've recently tried to use Ubuntu Phone on my Nexus 5. It was very unstable and slow. I left overnight the phone with 33% battery, with flight mode and no running applications, on morning the phone was already discharged.
It's terrible, actually, since they are developing the system for more than two years.
I'm afraid that it will not be compatible with most phones in production when the OS will be finally released.

Sad thing is, they abandoned the Ubuntu for Android product, but did not opensource it, instead they sold that to someone else who isn't even trying to launch it.
