You can literally walk-in a regular phone store in China and walk-out with a brand new One Plus One -- ColorOS version (that is flashable to CM11S).
So don't BS us with the "they are small and don't want to produce more units than necessary" because that ship has sailed a long time ago!

As someone who tried throughout yesterday to claim my invite and finally got it through in the evening all I can say is LOL.
As far as 'dated' goes, 2012 flagships are still running just fine. Samsung Galaxy S3 are still running just fine. To call it dated is being humourous when the most talked about phone of the year was Moto G.
This phone will be fine even in 2016 short of he battery dying prematurely. Now with RAW support for those who like to use Adobe lightroom, it is compelling. I am looking forward to seeing if I like the size and CM customisation. Have never rooted my phone but heard good things about them.

I'd rather buy through an invite system than the flash sales that xiaomi does.
Those who are complaining about it should go and get a samsung/htc/sony. You have to make some sacrifice if you want it cheap..

You all wackheads out there bashing their marketing strategy,that sort of marketing approach was the most sensible for them.They make very meagre amount of profit from each device they sell.They are still a very small OEM and they don't want to produce more units compared to what they can sell and incur heavy loss for unsold units.Xiaomi followed a similar approach 3yrs back and now they are 3rd largest smartphone manufacturer.
Just a word of thought would u all have gone for a world wide release in ur starting days itself were you a smartphone manufacturing company?

Its time Motorola/Sony/Smasung/LG should bring prices little bit down. If these no-name companies can assemble good hardware at low cost, why can't these big shots. As far as quality is concerned these cheapies perform at par with flagship products.

NOW, dear OnePlus you can kiss my... you know what. with such lame selling strategy, that make loots of noise, but less actual users you can forget about that phone, its better to buy last gen flagship than playing with your idiotic game of: "we gonna sell you it, when you get 1000friends in FB or get invitation fro Pope"
Beside I would understand if this phone would be amazing but its nothing special. I would rather give 100$ more and buy phone straight from the shop without waiting even 10sec
