The reason the S5 sales lag behind the S4 is because the S4 is still a pretty powerful smartphone, not everyone updates their phone every year, the smartphone market had reached it's saturation point, same thing has happened to the tablet market, and to go down the line, the PC market, from laptops to towers. And the introduction of the new Chinese smartphone and electronics market, and everyone will be selling less, it's how the world works. It's not rocket science.
