Which is rather strange because metal like e.g. steel (use by amongst other Jiayu G4), is cheaper than polycarbonate (the plastic used for Galaxy series and e.g. Nokia 808PV, N9 and others).

with Apple dropping the 32Gb iPhone the Alpha ONLY competes with the 16Gb iPhone

Expect a reversal in 2015 with the Alpha gaining memory expansion and the A3 & A5 if kept losing theirs
The somewhat premium price is being metal
IMO if the Alpha had memory expansion sales of the Alpha would be more than all of these 3 handsets combined as it would have taken market from Apple iPhones also as way cheaper than the 16Gb IP6
**I like the Alpha and one comment I heard is that it was off limits to buy as they had a near full 32Gb memory card so...

How is their price reasonable?
A3 with pathetic 540p and SD 410 costs around 400 $
A5 with nearly same specs and a 720p screen costs 500$+
