AnonD-222882, 08 Dec 2014At last there would be a CM based phone actually available... Good Luck MM.Micromax till date has just rebranded chinese oem mediatek devices. No in house designing or r&d or manufacturing that I'm aware of. . Not really ideal for cyanogenmod to be put on.
Let us see if things change..

AnonD-315724, 08 Dec 2014How NOT to market a great phone: 1. Initiate a "Smash the Past" contest - alienate ... moreYou are not too good at reading are you? Let me make it simple for you:
Day 1 - 'One Plus' said Cyanogen has signed a deal with Micromax so phones sold in India will not get OTAs but globally sold devices will continue to do so.

Day 2 - 'Cyanogen Inc.' tried to fool people into thinking that one plus was giving wrong information by stating 'Global devices will get OTAs and "global" devices in India will get OTA' (One Plus had already said the same on day 1; Except Cyanogen hides the fact that devices sold in India won't get OTA) - The news sites misinterpreted this and said Indian versions will get the updates too.

Day 3 - As people were not fools they enquired about the shady use of 'global' devices in India.. And so Cyanogen had to release the full truth that devices sold in India will not get an update. (Basically what One Plus has said all along)

All along One Plus has NOT changed the statement that Cyanogen will not provide updates to devices sold in India.

We're Indians. We're much badass than anyone else in the world. SO we will have the way to install CM11s in our phones and will get OTA's wheneva CM releases it.

In short ANyone who knows how to use GOOGLE search will definitely have the update.

A great OS ruined by Micromax in the name of business. I would rather buy a OnePlus One than a Micromax Yu.

How NOT to market a great phone:
                1. Initiate a "Smash the Past" contest - alienate the environmentalists.
                2. Push a "Ladies First" campaign - free phones go to the hottest looking chicks. Alienate the feminists.
                3. Set up a service center in China only and promise an RMA turn around time of about a month.
                4. Make the best phone in the world that you *can't* buy - unless you have a coveted 'invite'.
                5. Announce that India will not get CM updates. Then wait, and announce that India WILL get CM updates after all. Then say you're sorry for getting everyone's hopes up in India prematurely but there will be no CM mods for India - and that's final - for now!

Imagine what the OnePlus One could have been if they had a rock star marketing and distribution team? I hope it's not too late.

it seems cynogenmod guys themselves aren't sure of this 'now what to do' situation.. and they are constantly changing the sentences.. but what ever they do atleast they should be clear about the decision

AnonD-339626, 08 Dec 2014Seems like One plus is always in the news for the wrong reasons. Definitely not healthy public... moreWhat can One Plus do if Cyanogen went and signed an exclusivity deal with Micromax?
You can argue that One Plus should have made their contract exclusive in the first place.. But IMO Cyanogen Inc. has been acting like a b*tch since it was formed.. So it doesn't come as a surprice to me..

I wouldnt care much as most of the guys buying oneplus are smart enough to know how to root and install custom roms. So I will just flash the global rom and get OTA updates, IF it detects by region and wont allow me to get OTA then I will just download the newer version and do a dirty flash, problem solved! No fuss.

Cyanogen thought they would slyly slip in the word 'global' in the previous blog post and no one would notice?? Quite a few of us had pointed that out..
They wanted to make it look as if One Plus was lying so that people don't think they are being greedy.. If greed is going to feed and pay the bills of the Cyanogen Inc. team, then go ahead.. Afterall they are a business now. But don't try to hide your actions..

To those who are going to defend Cyanogen saying that 'Well.. They didn't lie' - Everyone knew very well (even the cyanogen team, unless they don't understand simple english) that the issue was about 'devices to be sold in India' so trying to beat around the bush and misguide people with the word 'global' is still a lie by omission..

Though people will be able to just take the firmware images for global and flash them onto their indian devices I guess..

that means One Plus is dumping the cynogen and embracing lolipop 5 as it is slim lined you don't need cynogen, I think.

I think there is no need of cyanogen update. One plus one should start pure android update its demand of time.

I just don't get this company. They try to give you the world, but fall flat on their faces. Heck you can't even commercially purchase the phone and still have to go through all this rubbish just to get it, and then they have such shaky relationships with cyanogenmod. The price is good the rest.... Not so much.

At least there will be a rom available to owners in India. (Just not officially supported though)
