Anonym, 17 Dec 2014Personally I find it amusing how in your mind there is no middle-ground, you either have to be... moreAll companies pulling back and Russia working on their own means exactly that - a closed borders economy, which in turn is exactly what a USSR was a self-sustained closed borders economy.
Russia hasn't produced anything worthwhile in decades. That of course does not include the military hardware.
There is no worthwhile auto industry. Sure, there is AvtoVaz, Zaz, Gaz, Uaz, Maz, TagAz, Kamaz and whatever else I left out, but its all for internal and ex-soviet block production.
There is no computer industry, there is no audio/video industry, there's barely sufficient food production and lots of different types of foods were not produced since the soviet union collapse. All this is due to a lack of modernization of russian goods. In some cases, production lines are the same they were 40-60 years ago.
The only two worthwhile money makers for the country are military hardware production and crude oil exports.
Russia has potential, but its people need to get their heads out of their behinds and see the world for what it really is. Ukraine has a chance, if its nationalists don't screw everything up. Russia's nationalists for now are at the height of their power.

But this is not the proper place to have this kind of discussions, see it as just a remark of curiosity.
Anonymous, 17 Dec 2014Ruble has lost 50% of value.
Say you sell iPhone or any phone for USD500 in Russian rubles.... moreAny company will continue selling their products (at a revised price) up until there is no longer demand at the new price point.
In fact, I don't care if it's Apple or any other company, they would have to be pretty dumb if they were to sit down and not revise their pricing as the currency starts to fluctuate (as you attempt to imply).
You can apprehend from my comment that we do agree on the pricing front, but I am left unconvinced about the whole "let's stop sales entirely" position. Sounds more like an embargo than any real business decision.

It didn't work the first time, and it won't work again. I'm surprised to hear a Greek person saying this, since Greece's domestic economy has been very weak for many years.
Android Fan here..

But appreciate your output; after all, you Greeks are SO good at economics... Care for another handout?

Say you sell iPhone or any phone for USD500 in Russian rubles. Suddenly due to price fluctuation that same price in rubles only gets you USD250. You going to continue selling?
People don't use common sense here. Any company will look back and review the situation.
This can happen in Brazil too, its currency is getting cheaper fast lately.

Peace is wo... moreI am an Android fan and i do believe that Apple make good products while i do not see anything special in there phones. I would love one of there desk top computers.
The fact of the matter Apple is puting a hold on selling phones in Russia because it effects their profits nothing more nothing less. There are one the most expensive tech companies and they do bully phone carriers and they do use under hand ways to sell there phone but the end of the day they are a business not a charity.
the most greedy company in history.
churning out mediocre products at premium prices

So you're also saying greedy Greek companies should pull out of Russia. Do you even realize the irony of your statement or does your hatred make you that dull?

As for minor? Well, I'm never sure of the buying power of the rouble, but according to one news source it hit 100 Roubles to the Euro, make of that what you will.
