In case if self destructive for the yet to be announced phone meant the phone would explode then it would have been a perfect phone for the upcoming James Bond movie. Pun intended.
Well with the passport and the classic coming soon they are using the Amazon app store so that's a start

Much like the Sun, that is very old, but that is still an effective way to sustain life. Would love to see a secure smartphone with embedded highly concentrated acid malfunction while the official user is using it. I can see the headlines now 'Government Official suffers 3rd degree burns from malfunctioning Blackberry smartphone'. Maybe you are tripping on too much acid ?.
but but but.. samsungs and iphones are expert in self destructing! (before bashers can bash me. i know in what context "self destructing" is used in the article.)

thenerd, 21 Dec 2014Well atleast it's more secure than iOS or WP....so it can't be that badSo.. are you joking or are you just ignorant?
SabbyJ, 21 Dec 2014Android, and security? I don't think they know what they're doing.Well atleast it's more secure than iOS or WP....so it can't be that bad
OH! I know, because its android, its gonna install bad ROM and hard brick this phone xD
Trooper, 21 Dec 2014Maybe Android was requested for whatever reason, and was not a choice may by Blackberry.Yes. My bad.. I read up a bit more and turns out BB is basically providing BES.. And the device itself is in the hands of Boeing so the choice of OS goes to them..
AnonD-342811, 21 Dec 2014Jus think of your mobile phone bursting in to pieces still in your back pocket. lol... that's ... moreself destructing doen't really mean bursting the only way lol....Btw your comment was hilarious!!

No need for elaborate acids and other potentially dangerous materials. Maybe it's you who should stop watching Mission Impossible type movies.
Its not gonna blow in your hand. Just some elements in phone(memory etc) get higher voltage and just burn... you can try it with some old USB flash drive, just give it eg, 6-7V and you gonna burn it, because normaly USB have max 5V. its seems that 2-3v more is nothing but memories are very sensitive.
BB should had never released BB10 as it is... They should had released a Blackberry OS based on Android, like Amazon. Today they weren't struggling with lack of key apps!
Maybe this will bring a new thinking for the company.
