"but sadly the leaked specs state that it will be of the FullHD instead of the QHD variety"

The writer must either have superhuman vision, or is too easily excited by marketing.

This thing needs a fingerprint scanner in 2015.

I really hope more manufacturers will keep on FHD.
There is literally zero reason for qHD in phones. Zero.

        No point for tablets either.
        All it does:
        - Faster battery drain.
        - More heat generated.
        - Lower FPS in games, animations/apps.
        - Hardware is taxed due to very high resolution. Instead of working on things that matter, it works on pushing out pixels.

tl;dr: Totally a tech gimmick / worthless crap.

AnonD-4340, 23 Dec 2014Good point, lots of people around this site seem to think that QHD use more battery because of... moreActually, QHD does indeed take a lot more power than FHD even if you only look at the screen and ignore the CPU/GPU. A screen is made up of the backlight and the liquid crystal panel full of transistors. When there is a higher pixel count, there are more transistors (1 or 2 transistor per pixel). Each transistor blocks some amount of light no matter how small you make them. When you have more transistors blocking more and more light, you need to increase the power of your backlight to compensate for that.

I wish they could get in native video calling as well. I do not buy HTC phones for two reasons a. Native video call b. Very very poor battery life.

If these two are taken care I think no other better phone than htc

No 2d rendering has to be forced in dev settings. The screen is without a doubt the largest consumption of power. Pushing more pixels means more power period. The choice to stay with 1080p is the right one.

A don't want an expensive phone with a life-span of its battery (1-2 years). Extremely unacceptable, unless it costs ~200Euro.

AnonD-312360, 23 Dec 2014Whats the point of so much head scratching when the naked eye dosent differentiate much beyond... moreLook at a QHD and a FHD phone with the same screen size in the store and you'll notice a difference in small text, and other areas. Unless you have vision issues, it will be obvious.

That being said, FHD is ok on a 5.0" screen. 5.5"+ makes better use out of QHD anyways.

I like the package except for the stated battery size.
A 2.0\1.5 810 is going to eat it.
When the inevitable hack comes to allow all eight cores on at once, then it'll be really obvious.
For everyday Joe, it should be fine, but a tech guy or power user will be in for a shock.

A bit disappointed that they went with a normal camera over improving their Ultrapixel camera. Sure, the M8's camera was garbage, but that was because it was low-resolution and they took out the OIS that the M7 had, it was still obliterating every other phone on the market and even many standalone cameras in dark areas. It would have been fine if they made a 8 or 12MP model of their Ultrapixel camera and cut out the gimmicks like the 3D tilt feature, 20MP is just excessive. I would rather have a 8-12MP camera that functions well in light or dark instead of a 20MP camera that only functions well in the light.

I just hope the 20MP camera at least has an OIS again.

It's more about distance and size than anything g.

What will I do with qhd when all content in mobile is full HD. Rather I need better in other side like Color reproduction, accuracy, contrast ratio, viewing angle etc. If these factors are same then qhd will have no benefit. Even I don't play games in my 19" pc display with more then full HD setting.
