Digital Camera's are cheap enough nowadays, so I don't understand why people hold out for the "ultimate camera phone" when a standalone camera wipes the floor with all of them. A camera phone is just handy to make a quick snap, on the fly, so to speak. The N86 does a great job in low light conditions and doesn't white out your photos.

So while the absence of Xenon is the ONLY point, it is unfortunately the deal-breaker. You are wrong, I won't wait for the next Nokia xenon, I will wait for the SE Idou. Sorry Nokia!
The N86 beats the N82 hands down on useability, photos in daylight, screen, video, internet speed and it has a FM transmitter.
Xenon flash is useful, granted, but if it's the only argument you've got as to why the N82 is superior then you really should be staying quiet and wait for the next xenon nokia.
Come on!! Nokia should stop spending money in trying to make the N86 what it will never be, and they should focus in coming up with new decent, competitive devices!!

The N82 has been on the shelves for about two years now! The point is: a much newer phone has to be much better than its previous siblings in all fields. And the N86 simply isn't. Nokia has shot his own foot with this phone. If a phone is good, there's no need to promote it like that. It will be promoted by itself.
I have a N82 and an Omnia HD. Night pictures are much better with the N82 because of the xenon flash. I doubt the N86 can take better pics at night than N82. N86 has no xenon flash and with no xenon its almost impossible to beat N82 night pic quality
Dear all who are saying that Nokia N86 is a bad camera phone please check the link below
Nokia N86 is a far better than all other camera phone in terms of colour accuracy, detail, night photography..I have seen some photos in flicker..the photos looke like real digital camera picture. So good work nokia. Nokia is promoting this phone just because few dumb people want to stick with their samsung and sony crap...they should know what is actual photography....N86 is far better in low light photography and colour accuracy than I8510...you can check these in the link given above...so thanks nokia making this phone...
djmuzi, 07 Aug 2009 look at all this beautifull N86 pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/87899792@N00/ say t... moreaha... i have been debating for the past couple of weeks whether to upgrade from n82 to n86... all the still comparisons and low light comparisons are in the favor of n86.. also the wide angle is cool, not to mention video light... however, after seeing this http://www.flickr.com/photos/87899792@N00/ I think I might stick with n82. The main point is xenon and not because LED cant provide adequate light but that XENON FREEZES motion... I do not want my night photos to be spoilt by BLUR. You can't ask people to freeze for you all the time... especially kids move and you want to take the photos of natural scenes, not just organized snapshots... So XENON rules because it freezes motion. AS SIMPLE AS THAT
[deleted post]you are not the only one.. i don't know what are they doing, we need to tell them somehow..
zayeed, 09 Aug 2009what ever nokia would do to improve the quality of n86 it can never beat n82 in terms of still... morevideo recording qualitiy is milion times better than n82, got them both so i tested. video can be compared with omnia hd
what ever nokia would do to improve the quality of n86 it can never beat n82 in terms of still image & video quality. its an open challange.
Aparadektos, 09 Aug 2009These are old news but gsmarena are desperate to make publicity for NOKIA, as much as they can... moreThat becoz ur OMNIA II isn't worth any review to be written here. Shame on u and ur Samsung!
I actually work within the phone market and this phone IS just as good as the pixon 12, yes the pixon has more features but that carl ziess lens is brilliant and you just cannot tell the difference
