The iPhone does two third's of US mobile web browsing and about half of the world's mobile web browsing.

Now that's because people get them and use the smartphone features of the iPhone, I've met lot's of people with Nokia smartphones who use them as basic phone's and don't use the smartphone features.

I guess the low uptake of Nokia mail backs up this observation, with hundreds of millions of phones being sold and only a million people using the service.

In all honestly for a company the size of Nokia to set up an email server and only have 1mill subscribers by 8 months is just pathetic... Of that one million I guarantee only a small portion use the service as well. Haven't used Ovi myself (don't have a Nokia) but I think it is safe to say it is either A) Crap or B) poor marketing. Tbh I think the latter as Nokia are huge and have a huge bandwagon so no matter how terrible or good it is, if Nokia marketed it properely there'd be far more users

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2009Two thirds of the US half of the world. In terms of what? Population? Not even close. China has the biggest population, followed by India, then the US, and Indonesia in 4th place. The article says that Ovi Mail is popular in India and Indonesia .. there's no way 2/3 of the US is more than the population of India + Indonesia.

                      [deleted post]Lol dude, 1million out of 200million is 0.5% and not 50%
Common sense would suggest that 50%(i.e. exactly half) of 200 million is 100million and not 1 million.

And in this case 1mil should be divided by 200mil and not the reverse.
so even if we multiply 100 after the calculation

                      1million/200million = 1/200 = 0.005
                      0.005 x 100 = 0.5
No offence but after all this i cant stop laughing on ur name "smarter than a 5th grader". Take care.

Does 1 million really sound like half of 200 million to you? I hope you're kidding.

Nokia sold more than 200 million phones over the last 8 months, therefore the less than 0.5% of people who bought Nokia phones opened Ovi email accounts.

The iPhone is the best smartphone because people use it as a smartphone not as a dumbphone e.g. only for calls and SMS.

So let me get this straight.

Over the last 8 months Nokia would have sold 250 to 300 million phones and only one million people took this up.

That's not even half a percent, it's a pitiful effort.
