AnonD-146024, 30 Dec 2014I am looking for a guy who was debating with me saying Alpha is the Samsung's current flagship... moreI have commented on the Alpha since launched

Samsung Galaxy Alpha is so superior to the S6 it simply should not be in the same sentence.

Samsung offered metal and yes did charge a premium if Apple copying price

What I did not understand is why then Samsung REMOVED? memory expansion

With Apple dropping the 32Gb iPhone this sealed its fate as the Alpha only competed with the 16Gb iPhone6

No true Samsung person will buy a flagship (being metal)
    phone

To correct the Alpha mistake we now have the "A" range which all have memory expansion.

The A5 and A7 are the fixers' the A5 when it is upgraded will need some tweaks to convert it into the Alpha replacement

Samsung will need to fix the other problem these phones have in NOT having removable batteries

Dear Samsung please note we wanted a fixed memory and fixed battery we would have bought an iPhone

ATM even if it were free there is no phone in the "A" range that appeals to me

The battery of the alpha is removable. The design of the back cover is the same with the galaxy s5 which is the dots design, not fake stitches like the note 3. If you're not talking about the alpha, then maybe you're in a wrong article.

Shame that company that flood the market with too many crap phones is still alive while that compony that makes Vega series is bankrupt.

This is an awesome phone from the stable of Samsung but battery is just too small for the processor, moreover Exynos variants are known for overheating and battery draining nature. Also the fact that it has a non removable battery which if swells, you can't remove it by yourself. This phone only has a metal frame but the back cover is of fake leather with stitched sides which although feels premium in hand and gives good grip, doesn't look premium. Better to skip it if you can.

especially when competition manages to implement stereo in even more compact size... ;-)
What matters to an inshop customer is: price, looks, performance, camera pixels, batterylife, sd card, sound...
              In that order exactly
Few actually care what pixel count screen exactly has, as long as it is pleasing enough to their eyes, and 720p is pleasing enough
Alpha failed on that first price merit mostly...and then the others

I'm on my second Alpha in just over a week and am finding the same issues... I'm a huge fan of run keeper but have had to un-install as it wont run on the current running system when I had the AP running I couldn't make a call or send a text then it would say emergency calls only which defeats the object when your out and about by your self other problems occur on the current AP SA health it wont find a signal for the internet and constantly says emergency calls only so I'm forever restarting the phone which has become a bind so I think its back to the shop for me tomorrow to buy another phone.

darkraver, 30 Dec 2014Except no sd card, no stereo speakers, bad performance, ultra high price tag...everything else... moreBad performance is a staple of TouchWiz so nothing new with it. No stereo speakers is actually a good thing, it's supposed to be compact, stereo (especially front facing) add quite much of heft. As for the no SD , sadly a lot of flagships do this these days. For most who would buy such a phone 32gigs is enough though. The type of guy who wants it all buys sth like note 4...

The only truly mid-low end feature of this phone is the screen. 720p pentile is shameful in this day and age...

This phone should meet it demise because:
                          1. Trying to copycat iPhone.
                          2. Without micro-SD slot (major drawback), you can't run apps within cloud service (even you can streaming it I'm saying it's not efficient way)
                          3. Prices too high
                          4. Too low battery capacity, it should be at least 2500mAh
Only thing I like that this Alpha has beautiful design.

S5 is currently selling for $550 in India & Alpha is prices $100 above it at $650. That my friend nailed the cofin for alpha. Nothing else is wrong with this mobile.

Much better than Galaxy S5's. Only the screen is midrange everything else about that phone is high end. (Chipset, camera, build quality)

The biggest issue is not the screen size of this phone or the materials used. It is the look & feel. When I pick up this phone, it just don't feel right. The experience is completely different when I bought my Galaxy S which feels just great. Alpha simply has so much metal sharpness on the hand.
