The Galaxy A5 is going to cost 409 euro's in Europe, while the Galaxy Alpha is available for €439 with a free Tab 7 Lite tablet as well. Sounds like a big downgrade!

Its funny how people still fall for old tricks, this whole spec list thing reminds me of this true story i was told by a Scandinavian once, about this guy selling his Lada (a very terrible quality russian car that you could buy brand new in Russia in the 90ies for a lower price than a 20 year old Saab or Volvo). Anyway i dont remember if this was sweden or norway, probably same thing since the languages are 70-80% the same but this guy advertized his Lada for sale as "Lada GTi". Lots of people were calling him abouth the ad since noone heard about a GTi from Lada before. And his reply was that it meant "floor mats inside", and floor is Gulv/Golv and mat is Teppe in Scandinavian languages afaik, so GTi was the specification. Well, say no more about the meaningless specs, no matter how many meaningless specs the Alpha has its still superior to Xperia Z3 Compact and their "2600 mah battery and 20mpix sensor inside".

Dont read specs and numbers, both iphone 6 and Galaxy Alpha has proved to be very good in real life battery tests. As someone said, me actually, if you read specs lists only you will easily conclude that Hyundai is better than Ferrari, an actual testdrive will tell you a completely different story. Have you any idea how long spec lists an Hyundai, or even a Kia, have? How does that make them better than Ferrari, or Lambo, or Rolls Royce or Aston Martin? HOW?? Just because those dont have a super-multi-ultra computerized digital multidimensional quantum mechanical climate control? Facts vs fiction.

I am using Galaxy Alpha. I play Little Empire all the time, never disable lte, all the time I use SHealth and my battery last 1 and half day. For me - enough. It is the most beautifull Samsung phone and on Antutu I scored 48857. FOr me it is the best Samsung phone.

I doubt this, Alpha isnt a phone that i personally would buy but its outselling Xperia Z3 Compact by quite a factor, obviously the "low spec, high end chipset" scam introduced by Sony with Z1 Compact has made a big market for this kind of overpriced Android midrangers. Z1c opened the market but failed to sell well due to all the dealbreakers Sony included, Samsung made sure to not make the same mistakes and Sony repeated all the mistakes in Z3c so Samsung basically has this niche all by themselves now, and at the same time they are offering an alternative to iPhone 6.
Really, this phone cannot be stopped, the only disadvantage for samsung that i can see is that it has stolen market share from S5 but why dont admit that S5 was a failure Samsung? Dont blame Alpha, S5 did this to itself.

What did you expect. Way too expensive for a metal rimmed device with yet another paper-thin plastic back (Samsung's REAL problem) and no micro-sd-slot, unlike every other mid- and high-end device. Fools!

good news as in my country alpha costs more than note 3 so if A5 is available here with decent price tag n with features of alpha then surely its a better move n ppl will give it more attention...

Oh rip...alpha. It is a beautiful phone. Bt it was not so popular due to its limited storage and battery. I think thats the reason it will have to be discontinued. I seriosly liked it, it looked premium it felt like a premium phone.
