Oh, this will be like Ultra Green Version when it comes to mobile. performance will be like 10% of the actual Desktop. The battery will be the bottleneck for it.
If you tested a desktop High performance compare to same Green Version, you get 60% only. Laptop on battery gets only 35% performance than plugged. Test it yourself to see.
Hope a full windows tablet release with this chip. Would like to play games like far cry 4 on the go.
With Qualcomm chips high raising on the past many years, it has make nVidia really an underdog in mobile chipsets.
Let's hope nVidia new Tegra X1 doesn't plugged with many troubles and bugs. Also hope it doesn't need a 6000mah battery for phones like Samsung S7 or Note5.
this is beyond imagination...if sony use this chip to revise playstation portable...sony will reign back the days of psp and console
mas39, 05 Jan 2015Sorry my mistake it states 25.6GB/s which has to be wrong because the Nvidia GTX870m in my gam... moreIt uses 10watts of power. It's meant to power tablets and cars.
With this chip bigest companies like Microsoft, Lenovo, Dell.... need to do 14"inch tablet with this basic specs:
1.Display.- 14"inches 2K - QD-LED + IPS-NEO - CGG 3
2.Memory.- 4 GB RAM ( new LPDDR 4 made by samsung )
3.Chipset.- Tegra X1
Want a phone with this processor and top hardware to utilize the processor.
I really honestly compliment my self with NVIDIA! for this amazing achievement!! It really seems that the Tegra X1 is really great!!? CPU/GPU, and I'm really looking forward to see it in the S6 & G4 ! and in all the others then. really great news from NVIDIA (X1) to/for keep raising the bar of technology! Well done, congrats and absolutely keep it up! !!
I'm absolutely stunned at the performance of this chip, I've been in the mobile business for 9 years now and seeing a GPU release for a mobile platform that is so close to desktop architecture is mind blowing!
no thank you
mas39, 05 Jan 2015Memory bandwidth of 25.6MB/s, still not much compared to my MSI gaming laptop which has a memo... moreLol. It's a typo. It matches that 25.6gbps
mas39, 05 Jan 2015Memory bandwidth of 25.6MB/s, still not much compared to my MSI gaming laptop which has a memo... moreSorry my mistake it states 25.6GB/s which has to be wrong because the Nvidia GTX870m in my gaming laptop also has the same bandwidth so there is definitely a misprint there. In reality this would burn a tablet to cinders, too powerful if those specs are correct.
10watts of power, Goodbye battery life!
AnonD-87512, 05 Jan 2015512MB L2 cache? haha haha haha, I need that! A53 cores have 512MB
thi is just unbelievable
so i'm not gonna believe :D
Memory bandwidth of 25.6MB/s, still not much compared to my MSI gaming laptop which has a memory bandwidth of 25.6GB/s, SUCH A LONG WAY TO GO WITH THESE MOBILE CHIPS.
I am in love with this chip :)
Now that's just GREAT! I'm just kinda wondering how this new CPU fares when it comes to POWER EFFICIENCY, it has never been mentioned in this article.
So..... Im not buying shield :! Have to wsit again.... /Cry
But cool! And im kinds worried about thr price/battery !
Anonymous, 05 Jan 2015Let's see if they can put that in a 8 inch tablet with 128gb storage + microsd slot and 4K Amo... moreCool! I would buy it except for the resolution part. For me 1200p is good enough. 2K (1440p) is the most I would like to go on a mobile device any more than that is a waste IMO.
Ok this is so much power for a mobile processor but how the battery life gonna be? if it wasnt for battery life we could have a broadwell cpu with GTX 980 in our mobile phones! if with this much power they still somehow manage to make this a 2-3 watt chip then this will surely be a beast nothing else can match for a long long time.
