The mobile phone is only locked for O2 customers and amazon itself confirmed that they cant unlock it. And o2 cant unlock it unless you take a 12 month contact with them

Yep. its not true. as it is still locked to an network where you have to buy only the special prepay sim card. and to unlock it is not possible :(

I'd take a Nokia 100 over this thing. Who wants a phone which throws Amazon ads in your face all day and is useless for anything except calling, texting and shopping on Amazon?

I have a Fire HDX tablet and though Google Play can be installed, it doesn't work.
