Anyway, is there anybody knows that how long AMOLED screens have its brightness?
I've heard about degradation issue of AMOLED and concerned about it.
This surprised me. I thought OLED is worse than TFT in terms of Sun light legibility.
Too bad the person holding the video camera did a horrible job. Too much movement, side to side, up and down ... sometimes it was all blurred and then when they finally decided to hold still and the picture was focused --> they started to move again. But at least they did something like this and shared it (Thanks). Wouldn't mind seeing the Blackberry Storm, Sony Ericsson, or Nokia's in this.
i think samsung omnia hd is better than omnia II.
From what I've seen, the Blackberry phones, especially the Bold should have been in this contest. Seen a Bold display in bright sunlight, it's readability kills the rest, no washout and colours are vibrant.
omnia HD is not as poor as the other phone during sunlight but not as good as the iphone, in dark omnia hd is better than the iphone so i guess my choosice would be the HD.
iphone are great outdoor cos is using glass, less reflective than those plastics used in others
Hi, 20 Aug 2009Doesn't the Jet have 16M colours while the Omnia 2 has 65k colours? Can someone confirm? If th... moreYeah u rite the Jet has 16M color n Omnia II only 65k... Only Smart phones r in this comparison, the jet is not a smart phone only a simple limited java phone.
Got my OMNIA II today... Videos are simply WONDERFUL watching indoor, not that great when outside on a sunny day. Anyway the phone is GREAT
i find it really strange how the i phone screen quality looks poor in dark conditions in-comparison to when its in direct sunlight?
Daytime, indoors or out, is when you'll be using your phone the most. If you can't see the image on the screen, then it's useless. Which is why the iphone beats them all. It didn't look very good in total darkness, but it still worked and was the only phone that did well in sunlight.

I think they should have included the Samsung Jet... but then again, it's virtually represented by the Omnia 2, seeing as they have the same screen specs. Anyways, we should remember there are two true winners: the Omnia 2 and the Jet ;)
The only reason the iPhone screen doesn't look good in the darkis because brightness is set to maximum!
If the brightness is set to auto, it would dim down to the level of the other phones and look as good as the android handsets!
Anonymous, 19 Aug 2009Yep, that iphone sure is better in the direct sunlight , but the omnia 2 is better in the dark... moreIt is not because of OLED display but the fact that Omnia 2 has resistive screen makes it difficult in sunlight. Capacitive screens have better legibility in sunlight.
In my opinion Omnia HD has the best overall screen. Also look at this video.

Omnia HD has better outdoor legibility(I agree not as good as Iphone but quite good). In all other conditions OLED outclass TFTs.
Kind of frustrating how some phones, despite their strong points and ingenuity, still use older technology in some areas. Oh well, at least it's steadily making progress.
good comparation thanks
Yep, that iphone sure is better in the direct sunlight , but the omnia 2 is better in the dark.Pitty for the omnia , i expected the best sunlight legibility from that AMOLED display :((
iPhone ftw!
wheres nokia!!!!!!!!!ehhh??
