Most, oldest and biggest two smartphone companies Sony and Nokia are struggling while China is opening a new different Smartphone company almost everyday and all of them are surprisingly getting successful. Why can't Sony and Nokia do what China does?

Sony always made overpriced products following the idea "it's a sony", and their stupid proud was based on the golden years '70,'80,'90. They had almost 30 years of excellent sales. All the world owned a Trinitron tv, a ealkman, a discman, a handycam from Sony. Sony was the king of consumer and professional av equipment. Now they are fading out like Aiwa, Panasonic, Fischer, Grundig

How about Google? Google/Android/Motorola and Sony. or in short GAMS or So Go And Mo. And if Google's interested Microsoft/facebook will also be willing to buy it. To bad I'm just not rich enough..

Vooo ha ha ha... This is more funnier than the north Korean comedy. Faces of people who brought sony mobile looking way more funnier than seth and James Franco.

I guess this is it for Sony.. unless they've got some strings to pull behind the scenes.
I was so digging into the Z3 but the "self screen cracking issue" really put me off.

What does this mean for software update policy and all that sort of stuff?

I think it's just a combination of the following factors:
                - Mid/low end devices priced too high, competition overrules
                - Mid/low end devices get no software support, they even ditched their best midend device ever made, Xperia SP, from getting 4.4 kitkat.
                - This means bad sales in low/mid end.
                - About high-end: low quality rubber for flaps
                - Self cracking glass because of low quality
                - Screen never alligns to the frame issues
                - HORRIBLE after sale service
                - Priced too high at launch date
                - Hardly any form of marketing

I really pity this as I've always find Sony's design to best best looking and high-end feeling. I own the Z2 and even though it has its flaws, I'm really happy with it.

Dara, 14 Jan 2015Sony's failure: - The same product design for many generations - Sony uses low quality rubbe... moreWhy everybody need MORE PIXELS??? You won't see them anyway, just higher battery drain =)

As for software, It's really good, nice optimizations which gives a lot of work time, like 2d without charge, mine working 5+ days, comparing for 1d+ of previous phone with the same usage =)

As for overprice, seriously? Have you seen price for SAMSUNG of iPhones? they are way higher for lower spec phones...

Sony make the best smartphones among Android phone makers, but they should improve stability, camera performance, and they should make some good price/performance phones.

                            Sony's failure:
                            - The same product design for many generations
                            - Sony uses low quality rubber materials to seal the phone's ports, and the rubbers are broken within a year.
                            - Failure to use high-resolution display sticking with FHD in both phones and tablets while the competitors come with QHD.

Overpriced devices is main reason I guess. If Sony wants joint venture they really can give a call to ericsson! :)

Sony is over priced, reason being for instance considering the lcd tv's they are using sharps panels. Which means they need to cover up that cost too along with their own hardware.
If only sony could actually proudly boast their own panels, they would be able to cut down the prices on their tv's. Dont get me wrong i love their interface, its one of the most user friendly and deep options i have experienced.

Pertaining to the cell phones, they are over prices due probably the same reason. Need to work more towards stock android. The compact series are just great but again over prices, if they cut down on the compact series price, i would be one to jump to their device regardless. And im currently using a moto x...

I Think The Lack of Sony (esp. in My Country - Indonesia) is their Service Center.......The service is realy realy bad.

And the others lack is their Marketing Strategy (compare to Samsung.....) and price especialy in Mid Range Phone (to High in some models - while their spec isn't that good.

PS : I'm using Z, Z Ultra and Z2 so Far so Good ...problem will occur when I upgrade the OS ......it will slow down the Phone and Drain the Battery. (in Z and Z Ultra)

And HTC also thought of selling their company about 2 years ago. The beauty of owning an HTC is that its not too common unlike sammy and apple. So dont drag HTC into this, blame the system not the victim.
