I have Lollipop (5.0.1) installed on mine (UK - Vodafone), it runs smoothly. It took some time, after I have a long list of apps to update. I received HTC Service Pack too 'bug fixes improving performance'.
I guess HTC starts those updates in bulk to manage contention.

What about M7 in Malaysia? I've received an update this half an hour ago but it doesn't list out what the update is about, all it shows is just a dash (-). Any idea?

Firmware us different, user needs to convert their normal firmware to a dev firmware using Sunshine which means you need to unlock bootloader, root and S-OFF.
Don't brick your phone, just wait for an OK!!

guys i am downloading android lollipop in india and u all can get the update by just following the steps:-
Go to www.htc.com/us
Then click on support
Click on ROM downloads
Go to the selection under Unlocked/developer .
download the ROM for Htc one m8(you can view the description it says android 5.0 update).
i hope this is a legal way to update our fones.

Will never buy htc... and will never let anyone in ... morepls wait my indian fellows. you will get android l really soon, cant you wait for some this, do you have any problem with current android kitkat, i think 4.4.4 is the most reliable version of android till now, also pls note that htc give priority to indian customers that is why they have provided 2.5GHZ snapdragon processor in india as compared to 2.3 elsewhere. htc is a very reputed company in terms of quality and software updates. i will always buy htc in future. i can wait for software update as they are testing the software in other countries and then will provided the tested version in india. wait wait wait my indian brothers. be patient.

like they said all m8's ll be up to date till 3rd feb
i dunno abt it's best in updates or not but still better than sony
i owned an xperia Z before m8 and when kitkat was released worldwide for 'Z'
here in India i got it after 70 days and that too via pc companion not OTA lol
have patience guys :)
