Hate to see that name go. In the seven months I've had my Huawei Ascend Mate2, I've gotten use to saying "Ham2".
on the same page as you on that. i own a p7 for some time now and i´m pleased with it. i did eventually install google´s launcher as i´m not that big on ios style user ui. still excellent phone. i ditched my s4 long ago for it and not even the z2 i owned interests me now. it´s hard to decide betwen the p7 and my trusted, never had a problem, tank of a phone lumia 1020, still as an android phone the p7 is one of the best out there.
In the Philippines, Huawei called the Ascend Mate7 as "Huawei Mate7" instead. I thought their last phone carrying that branding is the P7.

Anonymous, 19 Jan 2015Ascend is one of the coolest cellphone lineup names. Much better than "One" or &quo... moreEven quality is superb. If only Huawei would actually release any software updates for them, they'd be the best devices. I have the Ascend P7 and it's absolutely amazing. One of very rare mobile phones where stock ROM works amazingly well and is loaded with features, even some that are only found on rooted phones...

But devices...oh, they all have a lot of things to improve. Too bad they won't, because that's the modern way. Everything needs to be bad enough so that people will want to replace it as soon as the next crappy/crippled device is up...

this is no different to lg removing optimus from their name..
lg optimus g, lg g2...
Now if they retire non-removable batteries, they may start to have some really decent phones
When you think about it though Huawei could easily leave the current naming scheme because companies like Samsung keep their Galaxy naming scheme and the word Galaxy is the same amount of letters as Ascend. I guess Huawei just want to be different and that's a good thing.
They should simplify their name to,its so funny hearing people trying to pronounce it correctly
The Ascend part of it didn't matter for me because I simply called the devices P6, P7, Mate 7 etc. However, it can only be seen as a good move as when it comes on to naming schemes, simple is better.
