And ram is also for multi tasking which Samsung are leaders in.
And if Samsung were to optimize like apple then that would mean all they do is take away all the smart phone features and call it "optimization" so it runs just a little smoother. That and it would crash all the time.... though probably still not as much since they have more ram.... and all their updates would have horrible bugs and make the phone rings worse and worse every year.
THABKFULLY Samsung actually knows how to develops and optimize all that software even including all those features.
OMGush, 20 Jan 2015LOL IOS definitely looks dated, the OS looks really old now. Same bunch of icons on your homes... moreLooks are definitely a subjective thing though.
What looks dated to you; looks fresh to someone else.
Agreed that they would have been copying design ques. Everyone does that these days.
All I want from Samsung this time around is a refined design; not that they make bad devices, I personally like the displays and performance of the galaxy s series but not the design. Its not bad but it seemed to be a bigger version of the previous one all the time.
AdamBoy64, 20 Jan 2015iOS isn't a dated OS. I'm sure you know that though, and you're just trolling. I'm sorry i... moreLOL IOS definitely looks dated, the OS looks really old now. Same bunch of icons on your homescreen but they just made the UI flatter and colorful (Windows phone style), and copied some android features.
Just remove the bloat in their touchwiz, even if they put tons lnto it but te software is unoptimized it will still lag.
AnonD-121494, 20 Jan 2015Ah, the idiots stuck on the lag talk. The only reason iOS is quicker than android is because i... moreiOS isn't a dated OS.
I'm sure you know that though, and you're just trolling.
I'm sorry if you can't see the advantages of teaming up hardware with specifically designed software - but plenty of others can.
why dont Samsung just optimise the software like apple. 1gb of ram on iphone 6. and its as fast as Galaxy S5. lol. who needs 4gig of ram, if its used properly. 2gb is still as fast.
AnonD-121494, 20 Jan 2015Ah, the idiots stuck on the lag talk. The only reason iOS is quicker than android is because i... moreThat's how it always will be with them. It could 10 years from now with phones leaving high end desktops of today in the past and they will still be mentioning lag because that's these sheep have to do all day with their lives.
And actually speed tests are showing that some Androids are faster than the iPhone. And that's on kit Kat.
Anonymous, 20 Jan 2015S6 non-removable battery + glass back is really disappointing! Where do you get a glass back from? The curved edge will be on both sides of the FRONT. So left and right not front and back.
Anonymous, 20 Jan 2015yup.
huge difference, ios doesn't really lag, thats why the iphone6 1gb of ram is faster t ... moreSo you have never used either apparently....or even a computer system for that matter.
Here in reality there is no such thing as technology that will not lag or hiccup. You might want to join us in the real world if you want any comment to be taken seriously.
Erick, 20 Jan 2015it stayed on 1G ram because does not do a lot of stuffs like androids do. everyone knows it.Yet it still needs it as you can tell by the poor memory usage and crashing.
And regardless even if it didn't need it....which it does....then that's just one more aspect where they are over pricing for older and less hardware.
harlekkin, 20 Jan 2015How is iOS a dated OS?! You may call it restricted, but by no means is it "dated".
... moreHow is dated dated? I hope you are joking about lacking the brain capacity to be able to answer that.
Ios and I phones to this day are still behind even 10 year old flip phones in a few ways. And that's only from slowly changing over the years of having multiple aspects lacking compared to those old flip phones.
Android heavy? Especially now a days?
Ios specifically optimized? Lmfao.
That's why it has continually has the massive world lead in app crashes every single year?
That's why the ios 5,7, and 8 updates were competent bug ridden crashing updates that drove millions insane?
That's why "speaking of heavy" ios 7 and 8 got much heavier system weight while barely adding anything to show for it. And why I phones 4, 4s, and 5 ended up lagging a lot on them while also continuing with ios's world famous crashes. Why even the 5s gained some more lags. And even the 6 and 6 plus still love to crash.
and why they basically had to release a new update to "fix" it every month and half the time made it worse.
So are you just lying or have you never used either os?
Erick, 20 Jan 2015it stayed on 1G ram because does not do a lot of stuffs like androids do. everyone knows it.What, run touchwiz and bloatware that nobody wants? S-Beam and eye-scroll that nobody uses? And the rest of utterly useless crap that Samsung has come up with to look "innovative" and busy, without ever running as much as a single focus group to analyse whether it's actually adding any value...
Anonymous, 20 Jan 2015S6 non-removable battery + glass back
is really disappointing!
What, because you finally realise that Samsung isn't about pleasing the geeks in their every request? That removable batteries are perhaps more of a liability than a blessing?
There's a reason for everything my friend, it just takes some companies longer than others to catch on.

Android is over-engineered and heavy, iOS is specifically optimised for a handful of device types. That's the difference that allows it to run more on less.
Android follows Windows Desktop by being one OS for all devices, which has its pro's and con's - one con being that you can only throw more hardware at it in the hope that it'll run better for longer.
About time you started looking at reality.
