It's a shame that iphone user NEVER REALIZE that their OS is NOT TRUE MULTITASKING!!!
Anonymous, 29 Aug 2009You are wrong, when using the music player in conjunction with another application i.e. multit... moreActually OS-X is NOT Unix. It's a Unix like operating system, based on Mach Kernel. As for the iphone variant... it's not 100% the same as the OS on iMac, it is developed TO BE SINGLE-TASKING. For example, can you run a web browser in iphone, then open a game, then SWITCH to browser then SWITCH to game... NO!!! Therefore it IS NOT a TRUE multitasking.
Mach was developed as a replacement for the kernel in the BSD version of UNIX, so no new operating system would have to be designed around it. Today further experimental research on Mach appears ended, although Mach and its derivatives are in use in a number of commercial operating systems, such as NEXTSTEP and OPENSTEP, and most notably Mac OS X using the XNU operating system with the Mach.
S60v5 is around 50MB,
iphoneOS is around 240MB

It's UNIX of course it can multitask.
it looks alot like the nokia 5800 if you have that phone some one will think that its the nokia 5800^_^
i feel Nokia is having too many of the same XM 5800 clones, take out something and put in something.
I feel they should have a N97 without keyboard, not the mini.

No. This is real multi-tasking, not bringing the music player on top of what you're doing thing!!

No matter how much rubbish you want to make up that IS true multitasking.
The controls even have alpha transparency so you can see what is happening IN THE BACKGROUND.

Why nokia downgrade the megapixel that the most important thing to fight with SE? Is that reasonable? If nokia didn't try their best to catch up, nokia will always become a looser.
How can a company like Nokia do this release 3 different phones using the same fascia bodys but just put different numbers on the models, looks as though Nokia is doing the cheap release of mobiles an Samsung showing Nokia up,there seems something very odd with there stratedgy this year at Nokia but i hope it changes soon after Stuttgart on Tuesday- Wednesday
A bit pricey for the specs.

It is a FALSE claim if you said iphone is ABLE to multitask. No one will ever said that nokia S40 able to multitask. Although you can hear music while reading SMS.
There is NO such things such as SELECTED multitask. It just a SOFTWARE trick that iphone use to make it LOOKS LIKE multitask.

If you say iphone is able to multitask also you have to say s40 can multitask since you can run radio and music player on background, email notification and you can make a call during browsing so thats not multitasking. True multitasking is like on s60 where you can switch between applications/third parties application.
The best user experience will be when I buy this for e149 and see the iPhone people trying to explain how their e900 phone is somehow better.
Anonymous, 27 Aug 2009If Symbian was as superior to iPhone OS as the post I was replying was saying, then why would ... moreNokia didn't SWITCH to maemo, but it broaden their device lineup. If you notice, nokia didn't say that they were in phone bussiness as of now. They were saying that they were in phone business up to computer business. Any communication device that were mobile.
And because the market of computer and smartphone became saturating, nokia need to re-invent the OS lineup. Nokia would devine maemo NOT as smarphone, but as pocketable computer with phone ability.
So, NO... NOKIA did NOT switch to maemo
But nokia add it's lineUP.
