Soul, 28 Aug 2009Maemo OS is the new thing, Simbian is DEAD and get used to it. Symbian has become slow and bug... more1st. symbian is NOT dead. It's the most sold OS for smartphone in 2008 & 2009. And nokia have the trio S30/S40, S60 & Maemo since 2005.

2nd. Linux is NOT a derivative of Unix... Linux = Linux IS NOT Unix. Linux is a CLONE of Minix. some variant of unit... the keyword is CLONE! not derivative.

3rd. In reply to other poster.... S30/S40 is not J2ME os. It is an OS made by Nokia that SUPPORT J2ME.

Nokia needs to make a non QWERTY variant of the N900, a lot of people don`t want a WERTY phone, the touchscreen is enough.

Oh, and there are already thousands of Apps available for Maemo, another good start for Nokia : http://maemo.org/downloads/OS2008/multimedia/

Maemo OS is the new thing, Simbian is DEAD and get used to it. Symbian has become slow and buggy, Maemo is smooth and works really well. Get used to it. Maemo is a Linux based OS, so it can compete with Android and OS or Web OS (Linux is a derivate of UNIX, the same thing that OS X is based upon).
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resistive_touchscreen

Yes, resitive handle multi touch with no problem :

"Resistive touchscreen technology can also support multi-touch input."

Apple fans get so worked up over everything Nokia .It's over-obvious through the recent threads.

Most of the usual fanboys do, but you don't see them do it as frequently as Apple.

                    Cheer up people!

[deleted post]Wrong! capacitive touchscreens aren't the only screens that can take multitouch.

                        Sometimes I wonder..

I saw many ppl complaining about absence of multitouch for zooming. But frankly, iPhone zoom gesture is not finger movement friendly. Maybe it is only my hand.

Expensive. Will have less thrid party softwares in the begining. QWERTY physical keyboard feel is going to be my decision factor. In the same token, I did not buy E90 because of the keyboard. But loving E71's.

people like big screens yet they demand thin phone..
people like slide qwerty but they want 5 rows..

                                    what are these people thinking..
accept that for features to be achieved, you have sacrificing something..

Rip, 28 Aug 2009Ok, nice specs, maemo and everything... But why the hell Nokia couldn't use a 5 row qwerty key... moreThe less rows, the more space for other stuff, like a better camera, FM transmitter etc.
