good! No more stoves
Can't wait for the Z4 Ultra with the s810 chip, should be one amazing piece of tech, blind Sammy fanboys can have their awful S6 with the slow agonising exynos chip.
I feel there's nothing wrong with Snadragon 810 but samsung just made an excuse to shift to Exenoss bcz they never found anything wrong with Snapdragon until their own chip was lagging & now when Samsung has come up with a beefy chipset with 4G modem, they just spread the bad rumours about SD810 being bad. Plus people avoid buying other company's flagship phones that come up with SD 810.
pukemon, 29 Jan 2015not surprised. might hold out for 2nd generation 64bit soc's. the first batch for android do... moreExynos 7433 is about 10% slower per core all the while it has 4-8 cores (Apple has 2). If anything it's Apple that's behind. ARM designs are plenty good if they're implemented correctly, custom designs can be really bad (see Krait ' s per Mhz Perf).
All in all Galaxy S6 would be faster than core i5 based Surface pro 3 (a laptop), that's more than an achievement that's a trend setter (laptops start to be the slow ones, phones get to be faster)
Ha ha. So long Crawl Comm!
The 810 looks like a dud of a SoC. I will wait for Snapdragon 820 to see if the issues have been fixed. Suppose to be out by end of this year. So hopefully this year's Nexus Phone will have SD 820 and 4GB Ram. But knowing Qualcomm, the 820 will be delayed until 1H 2016...
One thing to worry about with the S6 is the exynos and it's usual lack of source code from Sammy's side. Maybe they'll finally learn now that their own CPU seems to go global this year.
Another thing to worry about is the romored glass back side of the S6 and the non-removable battery.
Those are two great points of concern and I don't know if I'm looking forward to CES or worrying about it.
Qualcomm any day over Any lower end East part of the World chipset!!!
AnonD-324565, 29 Jan 2015This is the year Sammy fallsNope...!
not surprised. might hold out for 2nd generation 64bit soc's. the first batch for android don't seem enticing, including this debacle. and samsung would do well to improve the basic arm offering. some people think it's custom, and it may well be, but it's nothing like the beast chips apple puts out. aside from that, exynos still performs well. samsung really needs to revisit imagination technologies gpu's. they borked the first try big time. powervr gpu's are beasts on their own and sip juice. i at least hope this exynos soc includes embedded LTE like qualcomm and not auxiliary or batter life will suffer.
This is the year Sammy falls
If Samsung's Exynos had the custom Rom support of Qualcomm's snapdragon it would be the best choice. Samsung can fix that by providing proper sources, though they do not seem to care.
They need to improve on the standard ARM design like Apple does, just can't directly fabricate and sell. Competition is heating up.
[deleted post]I agree. Looks like the Galaxy S6 will be my next phone, even though I'm not too particularly fond of the Amoled technology thanks to it being prone to screen burn-in. My S5 suffers from such issue. :/
