How long Samsung intend to entertain us with such a boring design?

Samsung sells quintillion models/types of phones which makes up for their total profits. So what the comparison needs to focus on are Galaxy S5 sales vs iPhone 6 sales. Samsung will continue to lose profits because they are unwilling to focus on ONE great phone but instead releases 20 or so different models in one year. And of course they always seem to copy Apple's design. And when they do design their own they are so poorly executed; hence the plastic Galaxy S5. They need to be original and focus on one phone. Consumers will continue to get confused with all the models they've released. There's too many choices; therefore are likely to go the Apple route: iPhone 6 or 6s. It's that simple.

They deserve the lower profits and lower phone sales. I don't want to buy Samsung because if I purchase a high end 900$ phone, people won't even know if it's a 900$ Note/S phone or a 150$ Samsung cheap phone. On the other hand, it's good for those cheap people who buy cheap phone, people can misunderstand they bought a high end phone.

S4 a... moreS4 was anything but a flop. Excellent piece of kit and sold exceedingly well. The S5 WAS disappointing in terms of design rather than performance hence I passed on it and kept my S4 for another year.
Looking forward to S6 to see if Samsung have listened. Edge design would be cool.

This is the only reason why Samsung redesigned and renamed their phones. This means that they started using non-removable battery.
In last year, Samsung earned lower profit than what did they expect. So to increase their profits, they increased the effect of planned obsolescence by using non-removable battery. So you're enforced to buy new phones (or pay for services to replace battery, if they replace it at all) in every 2 years.

This does not make the build quality 'poor'. My S4 Mini is a lovely device and well put together. It's been in a case since day one and is still mint. The Note 4 is a truly beautiful device. I'm not sure what more you want ....

Samsung has revenue 48.6 billions dollar and profit margin is just $4.86 billions that means only around 10% profit margins whereas Apple's average profit margins is 39.9 % .So good for Samsung customers because of cheaper products but bad for Samsung company and immense pressure and competition. Big screen is really important in Chinese market.
