KiltedWarrior619, 03 Feb 2015There is a silent mode.. its customizable actually you can set it to be silent only for a time... moreAre you talking abour Galaxy S5? There are no such options in this device.
Found a way of putting phone on silent after update. Go to SETTINGS then ACCESSIBILITY then HEARING, here you will see there's a tick box option to TURN OFF ALL SOUNDS. Worked for me.
There is a silent mode.. its customizable actually you can set it to be silent only for a time limit or stay on and additionally, you can set any exceptions to the silent mode. If you want everyone to be silent except for you wife or your kid you can allow only them to ring aloud. I really like the new 5.0 upgrade.
- battery drained very fast
- sms sending takes too looooong...
- wifi keeps disconnected even though i'm on top of the router...
- no silent mode in quick settings (where the speaker sign is)
thats all for now...

I appreciate your review. I have heard enough from you and others to stay far away from Lollipop.

Thanks for your input but I was talking about Lollipop on the S5 not having the aforementioned things.
AnonD-251095, 03 Feb 2015Maybe they exist in Touchwiz ? Since half ot the lollipop features are already in kitkat TW.Actually Lollipop update is removing features from TW kitkat on S5. S5 owners know.
Here in Croatia (small country in Europe close to Italy and well know for great sea coast and sport successes) I've had Lollipop for a week or so. First immpresions: white is a theme color troughout whole Touchwiz, new dialer, emergency call shortcut on lock screen, new messages app etc. It looks more "iPhone-ish", cleaner, smoother. No real speed, performance or battery life improvments as far as I've noticed so far. Also, key word is "shadows", by which I mean new graphich effects when you press a thing, when you hit top or bottom of screen while sliding etc. Samsung has done its homework in this department. I have few objections however. Proximity sensor needs more time then before to put screen back on. Screen rotation is also slower than before, there is no silent button anymore, just sound and vibrate, that's annoying. Further more, I have expected minor camera improvments, especially on front cam which is pretty bad for a flagship, but no improvments happened. Main cam is great but has small issuse with automatic flash, it tends to get things wrong, put flash on when you don't need it and vice versa. Also it focuses alot and has issue focusing correctly close objects. However, camera is still great-especially by night, it has killer led flash. Overall, Lollipop is more polished than KitKat, looks better but no performance and battery improvments. It has few bugs that, I hope, will be sort out by 5.1 version.
