how to avoid update farmware
THANK GOD!! Someone finally buried this stupid argument. Move on people, jeez.
Come now, don't look so sour =(. We all have our flaws *hugs iPhone and N97*

Just as well as paying $19.99 to remove a battery, and stuck with AT&T unless you order it unlocked (for $699.99 of course xD), along with having to jailbreak your iPhone..again..to manually unlock it.
Oh boy, it seems we have reached a worthy compromise! Freezy laggy N97 (which has already been fixed in a firmware update) vs. glossy primitive iPhone (whose problems will also be fixed...like next year).
This thread is over xD.
Mr.Bigtime, 14 Sep 2009Iam posting here too. i bought N97 and very disappointed. i was thinking 3Gs or even 3G. N97 ... moreWell die hard nokia fans won't care if the n97 lags or freezes. It has multitasking and can bt files, and that's all that matters to them, lol. And by the way, die hard nokia fans will argue with you about the n97's lag, unresponsive touchscreen, and freezing issues. All die hard nokia fans got the perfect version of the n97 that never lags and works smoothly all the time, and a battery that lasts a month on heavy use :)

Guy Incognito, 14 Sep 2009I just bought the iphone and updated to latest software.Oh well so much for unlocking phone I ... moreJailbreaking and unlocking are two separate things. Jailbreaking allows you to install and run third-party (home-brew) applications on the iPhone which are not Apple approved thus will not be in the AppStore furthermore to this you can do other tweaks to the phone's operation. Unlocking simply allows you to place any operator simcard into the phone without restriction but not all features may be used as some are network dependant.
g4vysd, 15 Sep 2009people like you with no credibility can't just make things up to suit their point of view??
T... moreWell as you can actually do two or three things at once on an iPhone then it's pretty obvious that it is involved in multitaking i.e. doing more than one thing at once.
Now which part is made up?
The iPhone has an OS that is capable of having native applications installed on it, it performs ALL the functions of a smartphone, ergo it IS a smartphone.
Only a reetart would think otherwise.
Anonymous, 13 Sep 2009Smartphone or not(in your opinion), you need to realize that this runs a proper operating syst... moreUnlike some you do have a relevant point
"If you are still not convinced it's a smartphone then explain how people are able to create apps like iBluetooth (jailbroken app that enables OBEX BT sending) or turn-by-turn voice navigation apps? On a regular non-smartphone, again like the Samsung you mentioned, these aren't possible."
On regular non smartphones there are java apps that allow a phone to access another phone via bluetooth and access phonebook, sms, alarm, reset the phone, change the language and many more. Aren't those far more complicated than OBEX BT that allows (a supposed smartphone) to send files via bluetooth??
Anonymous, 13 Sep 2009How about running a photo slideshow while the music player plays in a true example of multitas... morepeople like you with no credibility can't just make things up to suit their point of view??
The examples you just gave were made up to suit your own viewpoint
and they all go along the lines of playing music whilst emailing.
Shouldnt a proper OS be able to do better than that?

Mr.Bigtime, 14 Sep 2009Iam posting here too. i bought N97 and very disappointed. i was thinking 3Gs or even 3G. N97 ... more they just messed up on the RAM that's mostly it
they should of had 256 since s60 runs with 50MB
instead of 250
like ihphone
and it's should have been at 600 for the ARM 11 atleast but remember the update for the 5800 from 369 - 434 which is higher then the iphone 3g
no one was expection that jump so you never know it might happen in the future another update to clock speed jump from 434 to 600 and use even less RAM for 9.4 on all the touch screen phone nokia has running it
Gotta agree, I'm a HUGE Nokia fan but they are lacking in the last few years, S60 is way outdated. Maemo can't come soon enough, they should have had it released 6 months ago.
Android is getting a huge leap on Nokia and still has a few months too.
Iam posting here too. i bought N97 and very disappointed. i was thinking 3Gs or even 3G. N97 is slow, freezing, unresponsive touch screen. laggy. crap. i am feel like a BETA user. firmware V2 will fix these? Ok we will see but . EXPECTING a phone works DECENT (not perfect)out of the BOX is too much? N97 is BAD out of the BOX. i read on net that close down applicaitons and widgeds to make it run faster and better. man so where is difference between iphone and n97 interms of multitasking? i bought n97 for multi tasking and if it doenst work that way NOKIA and their flagship claled N97 is FAIL. we will see N900!
Anonymous, 13 Sep 2009what do you mean 2.0 firmware ?. you said it took 2 years for nokia to add kinetic scrolling b... moreBased on your comment. How long has Nokia been producing phones? And it's only now that they've produced a touchscreen phone? Lol. So I guess Nokia didn't have the technology then after all these years :)
I just bought the iphone and updated to latest software.Oh well so much for unlocking phone I guess as it's been speculated that the last know exploit has been plugged. Jailbreaking/unlocking are the same aren't they?
Rudeboi, 14 Sep 2009How are you able to get ringtones for free for the iPhone? You go to Google. Search iphone ringtone creator. iRinger comes up. Download it. Create ringtones.
