Micromax has manufacturing plant in Rudraprayag facility in Uttarakhand where it manufactures LED, tablets and smartphones.

Samsung,iphone, sony and other major brands have set up their own manufacturing plants in China where they make phones under their R&D and supervision so that doesn't mean they are chinese.Samsung is korean, iphone is american,sony is Japanese and so and so .But phones of micromax are pure chinese it is designed and made by a chinese company. micromax buy phones from them and get their name branded on it.

In my opinion this one didn't sell because it doesn't have dual sim capabilities. It's sibling the one that is dual sim but not 4G, does sell. And 4G is hardly available in one or two cities out of whole India. Considering the current rates of 2G and 3G plans, a person who can afford 4G plan won't buy a Xiaomi. He would already be carrying an IPhone.

Xiaomi already is losing it's wonders. No more "best bang for your bucks" phone (especially the latest Mi Note).
And at Redmi Note's price, there's a lot of competitors. And then there's Android One.

There's just one imp feature missing which buyers in India yearn/look for -Dual Sim! Has everything else! The MI User interface is very sweet to use with lots of genuinely useful inbuild apps.
