The MIUI 6 update is for Redmi 1 phones, not Redmi 1S. The 1S will be the last to be updated to MIUI 6, in late March (next month) but has the highest possibility of getting Lolipop instead of KitKat.

I think there's a bit of a wrong info there. It's the original Mediatek Redmi 1 that's getting MIUI 6 Beta. The Snapdragon powered Redmi 1S wouldn't be getting MIUI 6 so soon as there's been some internal discussions going on about forgoing Android 4.4 as base and going straight for Android 5.0.
