If you own one of the aforementioned supported devices and wish to take Windows 10 for phones for a spin, you need to first join the Windows Insider Program. Then you install the Windows Insider app, start it up, register your device, then check for updates. As work on Windows 10 for phones progresses, you'll get all the new builds, including the final one when that's out.

brothe. you have to do it twice. First one install the modules of WINDOWS INSIDER and if you repeat the process.. settings > phone update > you will get the update .. but according to me. its not a good time to update your phone to technical preview. i did with my phone and i feel regret. lots of things not working correctly and so many things and uncompleted and most of the apps are crashing

90% of the features of lagdroid are unusable to the general user because he/she cannot find them in the OS.
Those who find these features, have to constantly toggle and search for them to actually use them.
This is where the tile interface of wp breaks the neck of lagdroid.
now, being a new os wp was (i said 'was') lacking many features that were standard to other smartphones in the market. But after so many updates and wp 8.1 upgrade (and, guaranteed updates for a period of 3 years by microsoft) that gap has been almost filled. Now windows 10 will have many features that will put it ahead in the race with android (lagdroid).
Note: a word to open source idiots ....
any open source system is 'open' to heavy security attacks as its attack surface is very big. its source code is available to the hacker and can be exploited in ways that go undetected.
Any system which is used by a very large public will always be target of attacks, but if that is an open source system, then hackers get to feast the users in ways only mythology can explain.
So, please stop comparing windows phone with android.
Now, comparision of windows phone with iOS:
iOS is actually a good platform, if you can afford an iPhone then its not a bad bet.
Only, my personal belief is that in India an unlocked iPhone 6+ 128GB costed me 80,000 bugs. And windows phone of any range perform the same (awsome). So, instead of getting a device of 80k and keep it for 2 years, we can buy a decent device of 15k-20k every 6 months for a period of 2 years and feel more happier than getting an iPhone.
Still an iPhone is an iPhone. and this is my personal choice.
P.S.: I currently have iPhone 6plus 128gb, lumia 620, galaxy Note 4 with me. So, I am a user of all the three platforms and my Note 4 hangs like hell.
