i downloaded the update and then when i clicked on install the phone restarted and started installing the update but when the update was nearly 75% done phone phone showed a sad smiley face and the it switched off when i restarted it it started showing the gears again and then it switched off and again and again i don't know what to do please help

SOLUTION A hard reset on a Lumina 520 (at&t )got the wifi working. I did a quick google and watched a youtube video to find out how to hard reset. PROBLEM Without my permission via any kind of warning it updated to Windows 10 and once I found out the update was in fact windows 10 I also found out the Wifi connection I never ever had trouble with was not working. In settings for wifi I was completely shut out of any options.. I read that doing some shut downs and restarts might fix the problem, they did not. I did many.. I also read someone called Microsoft and was told they being Microsoft had noting to do with the wifi connection. While this may be true they goofed on this.

I have updated my lumia 520 to windows 10 and all I have to say is ,update only if your device has more than 1 gigs of ram. The preview is pretty much annoying, hangs a lot . It seems like I lost the phone!

But one think microsoft has released trial vir of win 10 it was many problem. Don't update it . Complete version will avialable on end of sep 2015
