If you are not on VZ and are either WiFi only or on an MVNO avoid factory reset - 5.1 does not allow activation bypass that worked on previous versions up to and including 4.4.4 and there are a number of users who are up the creek after a factory reset.
Better to do wipe cache only after upgrade and that should take care of any flakiness and/or performance issues

Got it yesterday omBoost Moto G 1st gen. It took over an hour. Also updated several Google apps after the lollipop ddownload. Overall I like it. Lots of changes many are minor,- BK
