The mobile industry will never be the same without Sony, they've been making gorgeous looking phones for so many years, I just love my 6.44" Sony Z Ultra, just can't stop looking at it. What a pity if we had to choose either Samsung or Apple products, both so boring, dull and second rate. If Sony were to exit, and I hope they don't, I would choose between HTC, LG and maybe Nokia (if they come back next year) but I would be so sad and disappointed. Sony phones are so unique in every sense and the industry would be lost without them. Long live Sony Mobile!

cause it's a myth. it's never happened. there's no such thing as "quality Sony smartphones"

Yes we can support Sony, but they also have to do their part in improving their devices. I wish to see an excellent cam in Z4, top notch audio, blazing fast performance, and longer battery life. They should give a good competition this time. No more room for just good or acceptable performance, because they can'. afford that in their current situation. In terms of the design, they've already mastered it.

But it's not only about the specs, it's also about how it performs. They have to perform great in all dept. Cam, audio, screen, build/design etc. I have no prob w/ the design, they're gorgeous and unique. The screen, cam, need some polishing. And the audio needs a little more push. I'm not against the price of their flagship phones. If apple can sell their overpriced iphones, I believe sony too can. They're expensive yes, but still not overpriced. POLISHING is what they NEED and maybe a little more gimmicks like fingerprint scanning or eye scanning for added security.

Good, them along with HTC were sacrificing ergonomics (screen to body ratio) for looks. It's always a sweet sound when hearing that such companies bite the Bullet. Next HTC and if the world was a just place then Apple would be last. The three Amigos of bad ergonomics, who turned a tool (a smartphone) into an accessory and instead of making our lives better (through the aforementioned tool) puts on walls between people by learning them to care about looks instead of usefulness. In my eyes those 3 make some of the uglier phones too (too much bezels looks so retro, in the bad way).
Here's hoping everything will end well (Sony shutting down her mobile division) *fingers crossed*

But I disagree that their compact phones should've downgraded specs, because the real point of their compact phones is to offer a small phone without compromising that much on specs dept. Because not everybody loves a humongous phone. You retain the flagship specs but in a more compact body. Hope you get the point.

But pretty much a lot of people do like the design of their latest smartphones, especially the Z3. Its certainly better than apple's iphone 6 with the protruding camera lens that spoils the supposed to be seamless design.

Sony/Ericcson ring a bell.they all over price there phones.sony samsung htc the lot of them,no wonder chinese phones do great phones for less than £100 GBP.as the saying goes you made your bed,now ly in it ?

This is a baaaaad news. I have a Sony Z1C and I bought it, because Sony is the ONLY manufacturer who produces acceptable MINI (Compact) phones. Everyone else makes POS.
Besides of this I like Sony phones designe, and materials (glass and metal). Every other brand uses plastic, and cheap materials.
There are only a few problem with Sony. Low end phones are instable, (Z1C is rock solid/stable), every Sony camera is a POS. I deeply dissapointed in Z1C 20MP camera. Not better, than an 5 year old 5 MP camera module.
Softver update speed is slow.
And they product range are not so clear, logical. Ther is only phablets, no small phones. Z1/3Compacts are the only small phones in Sony's palette, but that is an expensive phone. In the midrange only phablets.
Sony have ALL that opportunity, resources, and tools, to make the phone business profitable, they only HAVE TO USE IT.

that's what happens to companies that abandon their customers. Making us think that our phone will receive the latest update at the time of purchase. Then suddenly dropping our devices off the list. No wonder..
