Guys,
Dont Buy Asus Zenfone-2 by pre-ordering. The reasons are below
At CES they have showcased the phone with higher configuration at lesser price to induce people to think of it and dream about it and asus let the people to wait for the past 2 months to increase the eager further. Most people waited eagerly for this phone to be launched considering the price and good configuration over its rivals. But, by considering the people's eagerness, Asus is now testing the market at what price it may be launched. hence, now it is releasing the phone at higher price and seeing the response and bookings from the people. Its one kind of price fixing. If there is more response, they will fix the price higher than what they have promised.
Dear Friends, by keeping the above in mind don't pre-order the phone to keep the price as low as already promised by ASUS. Understand, the price increase is only due to our eagerness. so wait for further 3 months. order the phone only after its release and my last word is see all reviews given by the customers who already used the phone and after that u may order the phone.

As others have said and I have confirmed below, Asus is not forcing higher fixed pricing for Zenfone 2. These prices are artificial and have been increased to take advantage of those wanting the device first. After the initial buzz has died down I am sure we will see prices back down where they were announced to be originally. I received the email response below from "michelle_p @ asus customer support:

Guys, this is JUST a pre-order from one third party seller. Wait for the phone to be released through many retailers before making assumptions. Its probable you'll be able to pick this phone up for the advertised price once its out in the wild.
